Brown discharge 16 weeks

Hi everyone,

I’m panicking! I’m almost 16 weeks and have had a bit of brown spotting/discharge when I went to the loo this morning! With it being a weekend I’m not sure who to call as my midwife won’t be working!

Any advice? 😢

you should have an out of hours midwife number in your book at the front or around the first few pages. Give them a call and they'll be able to advise you xxx ❤️

Hi lovely. No need to panic (I realise easier said than done!). A little brown discharge is often nothing to worry about, and as the others say there should be an out of hours midwife you can call and they will probably scan you to reassure you/check everything out. Keep us posted xxx

I had this at 17 weeks, the spotting started how my period does so I went in to panic mode.

I called my midwife who said it was probably implantation bleeding (??????) so I booked a private scan.

All was fine. It was a subchorionic haematoma which are very common in ivf pregnancies.

It’s basically a bruise in the uterus which slowly works it’s way out.

Mine was massive (10x6cm) and took 3 weeks to stop bleeding and I had a scan a week to check all ok.

Fingers crossed that it’s something similar xxx

Thank you so much everyone! I called the hospital and they arranged a scan for us and all is fine, they don’t know why I had the bleed but they said it’s just one of those things. Scared the life out of me! Thank you for all your support ❤️❤️
