Non stop pain at 13 weeks

Hi everyone,

Did anyone else experience the pain of stretching at 13 weeks? Did anyone else have a Fibroid too? How long did it last? I had pain on and off on Thursday but Thursday night it was non stop and I couldn’t sleep or stand up straight. I went into A&E after my drs recommendation yesterday. They said it can last 36 hours. I’m on 36 hours now and still in pain. I was prescribed 4 x codeine a day by A&E but I’ve since read that’s bad for pregnant women so haven’t had any and have just stuck to paracetamol. I’m desperate to know that this pain will stop / any tips on what can help. I’ve just finished 3 months of horrible nausea and sickness and was hoping to enjoy my second trimester, but all I’m feeling is real pain. So frustrating. I’d love to hear anyone else’s experiences. Xx

Hi Lydia2210, I am really sorry that you are in so much pain. My sister started to have unbearable pain at around 16 weeks of pregnancy. In A&E they scanned her and she had 3 fibroids which were considered to be small but somehow were causing her a lot of pain. They gave her a painkiller injection (sorry, she doesn’t know what it was) and then told her to continue with paracetamol at home. The pain was very strong for two days and then continued but in a way that was more manageable for a week. The pain returns every now and then but briefly and well managed via paracetamol. She is now 23 weeks. Wishing you a very speedy recovery x

My sister just added that they also gave her an antibiotic for 8 days (not sure why) and changed her supplements

thank you so much. It’s really helpful knowing that others have experienced this same pain and that there’s an end in sight! I’m on day 4 of it and whilst I still can’t work it’s getting more manageable, so I’m guessing mine may last for a similar week. Great to hear it’s not come back for your sister as strong since. I’ll look into supplements to see if there’s anything I should be taking differently. X

The codeine doesn’t sound like a great solution… Are you being monitored by a consultant from the hospital or a midwife? I would give them a call and see what they recommend.

it really doesn’t does it? They prescribed me 4 x a day for 2 weeks too, which is just so much. We decided to just stick to paracetamol instead which has meant more pain but I’d rather that than hurt the baby. I’m due to speak to my midwife today so will find out more then. The hospital haven’t been helpful at all, they won’t see me as they’ve recently done a 12 week scan and the baby is fine, so getting a specialists opinion of the fibroid pain has been so difficult.
