hi everyone I finally have my booking in appointment tomorrow at 12 weeks exactly.
Does anyone know if they will listen to the baby heartbeat? Or is it still too early?

Hiya, my booking appointments have just been lots of paper work in the past. They listened to the heartbeat at my 16 week midwife appointment. Might be different in different hospitals though xxx
ok - I couldn't remember.
And obvs any checks that show the baby is ok, I am dying to have.
Thanks for your response x
I think my first listen was at 16 wks too … I think it’s all paper work etc isn’t it! X
This might be helpful - take a look at nhs.uk enter Your antenatal appointments NHS and it gives you a breakdown of what to expect at the appointments + the timings of them
Take care
Janet
Thanks All - really helpful x
Good luck, if you get a nice sonographer they might just do it but i dont think they are keen.xxx
Hi Eb20 if its just your booking in appointment then there will be a lot of form filling in, they will take a wee sample, blood samples, check your blood pressure, your carbon monoxide level and your height and weight. They won't listen to babys heartbeat or examine you. Once the appointments over they will give you your pregnancy book which contains all your information and you will to take to every appointment you have after. There is a lot of form filling! X
if it’s your 12 week scan you definitely will hear the heartbeat. You should even be able to see your tiny baby and it will look like a tiny baby! So exciting!
They’ll be able to hear the heartbeat without a scan too.
just booking in today - 12 week scan next week!!! 🤞
midwife should be able to detect a heartbeat with a Doppler but don’t worry if not. I saw a few and less experienced midwives struggled, and also depends on the way the baby is facing but 🤞 they can.
