Hi all I have seen many a post with people asking when to stop meds once pregnant and never really understood it properly before.
So having had treatment in Cyprus, they told me to continue to take the progesterone and oestrogen for 3 months. However, I asked again last week for more detail about how do I know when to stop and how, and they have told me I need to speak to my OBS/GYN doctor. However, obviously I don't have one.
I have phoned to ask for a booking in appointment at the hospital and I asked if they could help, they said to speak to my GP. My GP have said to go back to Cyprus despite me telling them I cant do that.
Can anyone help? I am scared I could affect my pregnancy by taking meds too long/too short? I am 9 weeks +4 now? So worried xx

Thanks for replying. I am on twice daily Progesterone injections and 3 times a day progynova. If you are taking them into 14 weeks it sounds like it's not going to do any harm between 9-12 weeks hopefully 🤞.
I think I am going to have to phone a uk fertility clinic and see if they can take me on and offer advice.
Can you see the reply to Eb20 I have just posted? I just have no one guiding me, so if you are starting to wean off from week 10, i thinki will phone my old uk fertility clinic tomorrow x
I had a FET at a clinic in Cape Town, I've attached the treatment plan they gave me. Basically I stop all meds at 10 weeks. This is their standard plan, not based on any blood tests individual to me.
I am 8 + 2 and stopped taking 2 x 400 progesterone yesterday. After my viability scan they just told me to take what I had left and then I wouldn’t need it. I felt a bit worried about this so was googling a lot last night. It seems perhaps for a FET they ask people to stay on it for up to 12 weeks and with a fresh and no history of bleeding or low progesterone then you can come off at 8 weeks once the viability scan has been done. Have you had an early scan? I think they check lining thickness and everything then. I think contacting a local clinic is a good shout and asking them what they recommend. Wishing you all the best xxx
hello, a friend was told to stop all her meds cold turkey at 12 weeks. I was told to wean myself off them. I was on 2 progynova tablets twice a day so went down to three for 3 days then 2 then 1. I was on a progesterone injection which I went to alternate days for a few days. I was on patches and told to cut them in half for 7 days. I was also Vagifem and went from two a day to 1 and then stopped. I would ask your clinic again to see if they can’t give you a weaning off plan but going cold turkey also seems to have been prescribed for some. The hospital/midwife might be able to give you a plan. My consultant checked what clinic has asked me to do and we ok with it.
Hi my clinic say to take meds until the 12th week of pregnancy as the placenta will start doing the work from then. By then you will have had your first midwife appointment you can discuss you meds with her, they will go through your history and your IVF treatment and advise you on your meds. Mine has told me I need to restart the Clexane I'm on at 26 weeks until 6 weeks after birth. Also when it comes to the progesterone your body will only absorb what you need so it doesn't matter if you are taking more than you need. X
My ivf clinic said I just needed to do scan, confirm placenta in place and then can stop all. At that point your body is producing everything your baby needs.
Thank you so much for all the result replies, it's really really helpful and I am really reassured that there is a range of approaches. It feels like I wont necessarily do any harm while I am waiting for my week 12 scan. I also feel relieved to hear my body will just take what it needs and discard the rest.
I have had the early scan so we have a look at my lining see how thick it was.
Thank you to you all, this is such supportive group xxxx
