Hi there, I’m currently 12 weeks exactly. My clinic said I could stop all meds today, but it feels odd to have taken 6 x progynova and 2 x Cyclogest every day for months and then just to stop suddenly.
Why would my body need all that one day and not the next day? Is there any harm in stopping all meds suddenly? Should I ramp down gradually before stopping? X

I think by 12 weeks the placenta has taken over so that’s why you don’t need meds anymore although think a lot of people choose to slowly taper off. I’m not sure it’s needed but might just give a bit of reassurance. Hope it goes smoothly!
Yeah, the placenta is doing it’s thing now so fine to stop. No need to taper unless you feel you want to and have enough meds to taper with.xx
Congratulations on your pregnancy! You should be ok with just stopping the medication, but I was nervous doing so, so I tapered thrm down from 12 weeks for a couple of weeks until I ran oit and stoped all at 14 weeks.
My clinic have set out a tapering plan for me. I am on 5prognyova per day (3 oral &2vag )& 2crinone. At 12 weeks they have advised to go to 1 crinone gel, stop vag progynova & reduce to just 1 oral prognyova per day until 14 weeks.I am sure stopping should be fine but if you have some meds left over you might want to look at tapering for a week or too. I’m still only 10w5d so can’t give you any experience other than the plan I’ve been given 😊
Ok thanks for all your replies. I think I’ll taper off over a week and hope that’s ok. X
Hello congratulations! it’s so scary isn’t it? But everything I’ve seen online has shown that lots of people go cold turkey. I went dowb to 1 cyclogest for about 5 days and was on 4 progynova and went to 3 to 2 to 1 every 3 days. If you have the meds I would wean yourself off but don’t buy more just for that purpose. Xx
You could ramp down but by now your placenta is making it all and that’s why you don’t need it. I actually stopped at 7 weeks as my ovaries were making the hormones. I was a bit worried as it was earlier than 12 weeks but I was fine. So you’re stopping at the right time so you’ll be fine too.
