Stopping IVF Meds + 12 weeks

I am 12+3 days today. I have been asked to stop the progesterone and estrogen. I am a bit worried about stopping them. Did any one get a weaning schedule and did not have to stop it just on one day? What is the best way to do this? Looking for advice and guidance.

There is no need to wean off them but if it makes you feel more comfortable go for it. You can either drop your dose e.g. from 2 pessaries a day to 1 to none over a few days or alternate days. I stopped cold turkey this time at 8 weeks because I ran out of meds and was confident from my first IVF pregnancy but first time I just stopped gradually.

Hiya, I got a weaning off schedule. For my oestrogen tablets (which I was taking 3 a day of) I went to 2 a day for 3 days then 1 a day for three days. For my progesterone injections, I did one every other day for 5 days and for the pessaries, I did one a day (evening) for 5 days. Hope that helps! Yey for making it to 12 weeks! Xx

this helps. I was worried about a cold stop. But after reading the comments i am going to do the weaning off this week and stop.

Congrats on your pregnancy. I was so nervous about coming off them. I think we come to think that we need them when our bodies know what to do. Trust in the 1000’s of women who have also come off them at 12 weeks. I weaned off mine. Pessaries from two to one a day for five days. Oestrogen pills from 4 per day to 3 to 2 ect. Injections every other day for a few days. Your clinic might give you a programme if you ask. x

Thanks. Yes it is a bit scary when it is time to stop. And after a couple of miscarriages, i am not sure if my body was doing what it had to then. So it is also making it difficult to just trust it will all be ok. I have started the weaning today and hope all is well. Had a 12 weeks can today at a private scan center to check on the baby and all looks good so far. :) 🤞
