NHS 12 week scan before 12 weeks!

I’ve just got my NHS dating scan letter through the post today, my scan is when I’ll be 11+3! This seems so early isn’t it meant to be from 12 weeks onwards? I’m really confused x

its probably a letter to just ask u questions etc..I got a letter like that before and thought it was the scan letter... It's called something but can't remember now

Thanks but this is definitely my Nuchal and dating scan, as it says that’s what it is for in the letter. I’ve got my booking in appointment scheduled already prior to that where they do all questions and go through everything part x

Hi there, the Nuchal booking scan can be done between 11+2 and 14 +2 but most departments tend to err around the 12-13 weeks as ideal. If it’s too early & they can’t see everything they need to then they would bring you back but no harm in ringing them to check it’s not an admin error.x

Thanks I’ll give them a call and see if they can push it back a week, I won’t feel like I’ve had a true 12 week scan otherwise and will end up worrying. Don’t feel like we can tell people either as it’s still the first trimester and not out of the ‘safer’ zone? X

hello mine has just came in too. It’s at 11+3 I think I’d rather wait an extra week did u speak to the midwife xxx

Yes they were very accommodating and nice about it, I explained to them when I called that I’d feel more comfortable coming in my 12th week, they said that’s fine and I’m now going when I’m 12+1 xx

Good they were flexible. I just got mine through and it's 12+ 2 so feel glad as I think I'd feel the same unless over 12 weeks it wouldn't quite be okay!

Yes definitely that’s good news for you too! I’d have to have to go back if they couldn’t get the measurements they need so soon on, my anxiety would be next level x
