Private scan before 12w scan!?

Hi

My mind is going a little wild, has anyone gone forward with a private scan before having their 12w scan. I will be 13.5 weeks for my next scan (10w tomorrow) - I’m thinking with ultrasound direct.

Thank you ❤️

Jasmin

I am thinking the same. I am 9 weeks tomorrow. Really want an scan before my 12wk one. Husband doesn't want to. He said to just chill and everything is OK! Easy for him to day 😂

I am thinking of having one at 10.5 weeks x

I am probably answering my own question 😂but if you will feel better booking the scan, go for it! I’ve been ok throughout and today I’m in a ‘sorry for myself’ kinda mood , not even sure why! It’s only £45 so why not! I just feel more panicky as we wanted to tell our wider loved ones around 12w as we have a get together so also wanted the private scan to cover that 😅 as I can’t wait until 13.5 lol I hope you’re keeping well x

Hi! I had my last scan with the ivf clinic at 8w5d and then there was a wait for my 12w scan next week. I couldn't wait that long and booked a private scan and it was so worth it!

I feel the same, the gap is far too long in between my 7week scan and now what will be my 12w but at 13.5w as they have no availability.

I had numerous private scans in-between the NHS ones. Book one if it settles your anxiety or fears 💗 the private scans are much more personal xx

That’s so lovely to know 💓 I think if it brings peace, just go for it! x

I had a scan at 7wks and once I got my nhs date through I booked a private scan exactly half way through. Also used Ultrasound Direct and you get wee videos as well as pics to download. Well worth it for peace of mind and momentos.xxx

Good luck.xxx

Hey. I had a private scan at 9 weeks. Just to settle my mind (which was going absolute bananas)! I booked it through Groupon. Was only £40 so nothing really in the grand scheme of things and just made me feel better. Currently at 15 wks and thinking of paying for another sometime between 16 and 18 weeks. My anomaly scan isn’t booked till 20+6 and it just feels too far away!

I agree, the scan I have opted for is £45 which if it eases anxiety is worth every penny! I have booked a scan for next week which will mean it’s half way from my 7 week and 13.5 week scan 💓

Hi lovely, like others have mentioned if you feel it will help then definitely do it. I had a private scan before my 12 week one and it really helped eased my mind for a couple of days 😂 and it was obviously so lovely to see Bubs. After the 12 week one I booked one every few weeks to keep me sane and see Tahoe much they changed in each scan xxx

Hiya! I had 1 at 8wks, 9 and a half and 11 weeks all with ultrasound direct! Go for it! Whatever keeps you sane I say. Our 12 week scan is Monday when I’ll be almost 13 weeks. We’ve just had our harmony results back abs all is normal - wooohooo!

I had numerous private scans to try to control my aniexty, each time I was suprised babe was still there 🙄 do whatever you need to do to make yourself feel better. I used to feel like I'd achieved something by getting (through the day hour by hour) to 4pm because I knew it would be too late to book a scan for that day! xxx

That’s how I feel currently, having low days because I’m feeling so nauseas but also so high with anxiety and thinking of negative outcomes! Deffo more for reassurance than anything, £45 is so worth it each time! x

we got a deal of 4 scans for £99, prices have shot up now! make yourself a deal on what weeks your going to have a scan and use it as a countdown xx

Yes I had one on Thursday at 7.5 weeks and it has totally helped with my anxiety, the reprobate scan place was so lovely and kind as I was just so emotional and scared but so pleased I went xx

The wait between 12 and 20 is brutal. I can’t believe they make you wait so long. I’m 16 tomorrow and srsly considering it

JammPot profile image

It really is torture, you go from continuous communication with the clinic to nothing for weeks! I’m thinking to keep up private scans half way between nhs, as I deffo can’t wait!

Do you know how much they are roughly?

Hey. I think it depends where you are but I’ve booked a gender scan for next weekend in London when and it’s £60. I think that’s pretty standard.

I went with ultrasound direct which I have had good reviews about so fingers crossed. They have different scans, including diff things. I just booked one for £45 which includes 2d pic… however they had others for £70 with extras but I wasn’t too concerned at this point.

I also had a few private scans in between the NHS ones, all before 20 weeks. It helped with anxiety and we got a few videos of the little in the early days 😍
