Hi all, I'm 6+4 and have had some brown spotting today. It's an IVF pregnancy and I'm on vaginal progesterone pessaries. Could it be cervical irritation from those? Have I overdone it? Still have my pregnancy symptoms. I've lost two babies before and am really scared now! What does it mean, please help!! x

6w and brown spotting, help!!
I’ve had this almost weekly since 5 weeks. Sometimes it’s quite red & fresh. But only a small amount. Doesn’t soak a thin pantyliner. And completely painless. All I’ve done is switch the pessary from vaginal to rectal for a few days to let things settle. I did go to my local EPU at 7+5 weeks for a check. All was fine.
If it’s heavy, fresh, clots or pain then that’s more worrying. I’m sure it will be fine. Brown spotting is old blood x
Hi,
I’ve had exactly the same since about 5 weeks. I’m now 8weeks + 6days. Rang my clinic a few times in the first initial few days cause I was so afraid of what was happening, however they weren’t worried at all. Had an early scan at 6 weeks and all was fine. They just said they class it as one of those things and can be an affect of all the meds. Especially the pessaries. I then switched to the back once I start spotting and I’ve still continued to spot brown on and off. Not heavy and not filling a liner, however just there occasionally throughout the day and when I go to the toilet. They class it as old blood.
Aslong as you’re not having pain and it’s not fresh red clots etc all should be absolutely fine and just your body aggravated from all the medication.
Hope this helps reduce your worries, but if any doubt continue to contact your clinic lovely.
The worry just doesn’t stop does it? Take care 🤍 xxx
I had it up until 12 weeks.... 💙 xxx
Hi I had this at 5 and 7 weeks. Sometimes it looked like coffee grounds and i had some streaks of red. Lasted for 5-7 days. Clinic said due to pessary irritation. It got worse when I was super active swimming. Hopefully you can have a scan soon? X
Thank you so much everyone, this has been really reassuring!! I'm glad to report that yesterday's scan showed everything is OK, baby is doing well with a strong heartbeat and has grown from 2.8mm to 9.5mm within a week!! The midwife said that the bleeding could have been the implantation bleed that has finally made its way out. I really appreciate your encouraging words, they always make a big difference!! ❤️
