I am not hurt as it was so pathetically slow motion but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced it. I was walking up the stairs holding my nephew (only one and not heavy) and when I reached the top step my legs and hip did this weird give way feeling like I didn’t know how to use them. I was able to turn myself onto my back and fall ridiculously slow. I was more concerned about my nephew to be honest who was sort of looking at me gone off wondering what on earth I was doing! My father was there and he looked at me with a similar look then helped me up. I’ve never had anything like it before. So very strange! I wondered if it was my blood sugar so had some chocolate and water but I don’t know.
Any ideas?

Although you didn't hurt yourself it must still have given you a fright, especially pregnant and holding your little nephew, bless.
My instinct is if it was due to blood sugar you'd more likely have experienced lightheadedness too which you didn't mention.
I didn't experience the leg giving way thing but did experience a loss of balance quite a bit by my last month of pregnancy, basically because I was bigger and I'd bend quickly and forget and topple over 😅 plus I had unpleasant side effects when baby would put pressure on an artery or nerves in there and a close friend of mine, her sciatica got worse +2nd trimester so this put it in mind for me.
I'm sure you will but worth mentioning to a midwife at your next appointment as they come across everything odd, weird and wonderful don't they 🙂 xx
I was in the First trimester when I fell up stairs twice. Similar thing, like my brain lost connection with my legs and I fell forwards. Although I didn’t feel like they’d given way I definitely couldn’t work how I’d fallen, and did hurt myself a bit. After it happened those times it didn’t happen again and put it down to something brain wise in that first trimester. Maybe you have something similar in the second trimester?
Had similar things a few times - have fallen slowly forwards off the couch, backwards out of a flower bed (was trying to squat and take a pic of flowers, ended up stuck on my back like a crab in front of WI type ladies who thankfully turned away to giggle) and then have just lost my balance standing still and sort of fallen off my feet. It feels like I haven't adjusted to new centre of gravity but also I think it can be from the loosening of the joints etc from the hormone relaxin (my friend's hip literally 'floated off' on one side when she was about 5mnths and she could hardly walk). Went to prenatal pilates and all the women were the same and couldn't balance lifting one foot slightly off the floor - made me feel more normal as there were pregnant ladies falling everywhere, was chaos. And I am dropping everything as I seem to have no coordination anymore. I've also had the feeling like my legs have gone to sleep and I have no control or energy getting to them - I think this may be more pressure on the nerves. Not saying it's definitely normal, and if it felt more like lightheadedness then that's a bit more concerning, so check with your midwife. Hopefully it's all ok. And probably use it as a reason not to lift valuables (children or vases)
