This time round I got the BFP and I am still in shock that this has happened. I am currently 6 weeks and have my scan next week.
During the 2ww, I saw many posts that advised against baths, swimming and sex. I was just wondering now with transfer being 3 weeks ago if I can do all those things. I know with my negative round I returned to exercise and baths straight away after the 2ww but wasn’t sure whether I can with a positive round? Thanks

Hiya - I would avoid hot baths whilst pregnant, a tepid/warm one is fine.
Swimming is fine, I started after my viability scan as I know my brain would have wondered if it was the swimming if something had been wrong, but there's no real reason not to start again now 😊 with sex I think the general advice is it's completely safe unless you've been advised not to by a medical professional. Again I waited until viability scan for anxiety reasons 😊
I believe it's all fine unless you're told by a medical professional not to. And I loved (and desperately needed) my warm baths in my two pregnancies, you're just not meant to raise your core temperature for long periods of time and the hot bath thing is based on research from women who had fevers in early pregnancy so I think you'd basically have to near boil yourself for a prolonged period to achieve the equivalent, but warm should be OK. Swimming quickly became one of the only forms of exercise I could do during pregnancy as a. it's quite gentle and b. I was quite massive 😀
I’m one of those women who has been told by the consultant to avoid intercourse, also to avoid activities that elevate my heart rate, but that’s because I’ve had constant brown spotting since the 2ww. I’m now week 7. I guess that the theory was that the cervix is irritated due to all the hormones and may be bleeding, but after lots of red bleeding with clots and a visit to the a&e we found that I actually had a subchorionic haematoma, which are quite common in IVF. The EPU doctor told me that I can move just fine, don’t need to avoid anything that I normally would do, just don’t jump on trampolines and start training for a marathon if I never did that. But either way, I’m in no mood for intercourse or whatever else with this constant brown spotting still on my mind. At least now I know what it is.
So maybe wait till the viability scan and afterwards follow the NHS advice for pregnancies. Shouldn’t be any differences. Good luck! Xx
Thank you. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I will wait until I have the scan. Think i will just carry on like i did in the two week wait until i know more xxxx
Ah you can also ask at your viability scan whether the consultant has any advice for you or whether you can just follow the NHS guidelines 😁 congratulations to you too!
Congratulations 🥳 no hot baths for 9 months for you! I avoided sex for a few months with my little boy as was bleeding and paranoid but the guidance is unless youve been told not by your doctor you dont need to avoid it. I found out I was pregnant this time in Lanzarote so I’ve been in the swimming pool lots even in the 2WW (whoops!) as didnt know that was a thing after transfer thought it was just egg collection 😬. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx
