Just got my first viability scan at 6 weeks. This is my first one after previous unsuccessful IUIs and IVFs transfers. I feel what made the difference in this round was intralipids and steroid protocol.
Have a question, my doc is worried so have mentioned that I would continue to take my steroids and progestorone support until 12 weeks. I read from other posts that most stopped their steroid protocol after 10 weeks and steroids will affect the baby’s development beyond 11 weeks. May I check if anyone has taken steroids up to the 12 week mark or later and the baby is still healthy? Am feeling worried now! Am currently taking 10mg per day (started before FET).

I was taking 25mg and weaned from week 12, which is normal for my clinic. This took another couple of weeks. I was told it was pretty safe, just a slight increased risk of some birth defects of a few percent (but not linked to number of weeks taking it as far as I know). I have auto immunity so it was worth it. Some women have to take it later on for various reasons or if they have underlying conditions and I’m sure most women have had healthy babies after steroids. All medicine has a risk, but you have to weigh up the benefits xx
Congratulations and can’t wait for your announcement of your beautiful baby! 😊
Thank you for your reply! Now I am a lot less worried already! (Although will still be for other reasons like paranoia until at least 20 weeks I think) xx
I was on them till 12 weeks, 20mg initially then gradually reducing from 10 weeks stopping at 12 weeks. Still early days but baby was measuring ahead at 12 and a half week scan.
