Embryo transfer cancelled.. now suggesting sedated transfer

Hi.. I was due to have my first embryo transfer today, they came across some difficulties and had to cancel it 😢 they’re now going to freeze the embryo and try again next month for a fet. They are suggesting I be sedated for the transfer because of the difficulties.. Seems I have a long cervix and there is something blocking the instrument from releasing the inner section. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Are there any positive stories for something like this

Thanks ☺️

Hi hun, sorry your going through this, as if it's not emotional enough. I had a traumatic transfer for my first cycle resulting in having to get sedated. Turns out I have endometriosis in my cervix. That cycle failed. However I've just had my second sedated transfer and it was absolutely fine, I got a positive pregnancy test yesterday although I've had bleeding since 5dp5dt. I've to go in for blood tests to see if my levels are doubling every 48 hours, fingers crossed. Too scared to get excited yet. Wishing you all the luck in the world hun, take care xx

Hi.. thanks for replying ☺️ I have endometriosis too but they’re saying that shouldn’t be affecting it, it obviously is. They’ve decided not to try the sedated transfer this time due to my experience yesterday but hopefully we have better luck with the sedated FET next month 🤞. Never know what’s coming at you at these appointments. Congratulations on your BFP 💗 that’s amazing 🤩 Hope it all goes well for you 🙏 xx

They told me that too but it clearly has an impact. It took them 27 years to actually diagnose mine 😢the sedated transfer just takes away the trauma for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts hun 🤞it's such a long difficult process xx I'm still bleeding today so just terrified it's not going to stick. Due some luck sometime though eh, all of us ❤️xxx

I have always had sedated transfers as I had problems with my cervical screening tests (they couldn’t find my cervix and it was all rather painful!). All my sedated transfers went well - no problems and so much less stressful for me. I got BFP’s with all my three transfers but, unfortunately, they all ended in early miscarriage. Gearing up for my fourth transfer next week so we shall see where that takes me.

Wishing you the best of luck for your FET, you’ve got this! 💪🏽💪🏽

My cervix seems to move around and is sometimes bent at a funny angle. My fresh transfer was done in a few mins but when I went for a FET it took over an hour and they kept on getting more experienced people in to see if they could do it. They did it eventually but it was very stressful so having a sedated transfer sounds sensible if you have a blockage. xxx

This happened to me in March and it was such a worry. They booked me in for a hysteroscopy and a mock embryo transfer under general anaesthetic (which was a relief) Apparently I had a thin membrane over the opening of my cervix. I had my FET last Friday and it went perfectly. So different from the first attempt. Hope all goes well for you too x
