Early pregnancy bleed

**WARNING PHOTO OF BLEED**

Hi,

I’m 5+1 weeks pregnant following frozen embryo transfer.

For the past 9 days, daily - I have been experiencing dark brown spotting/bleeding.

My HCG levels are good and have been rising but I’m terrified I’m miscarrying or something is not right.

I have no pregnancy symptoms.

Has anyone experienced this?

TIA

Hi, I can tell I had a similar experience. As for symptoms I think 5 weeks is too early to experience any sort of symptoms, I had nothing at all till week 7 ish.

Unfortunately I started like you at week 8 having brown discharge which continued for three weeks and I ended up with a missed miscarriage. I am hoping this is not your case but I would call the dr today and asked to be checked.

Hugs

Thank you for your reply.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss 💔

I spoke with IVF clinic again today and had more bloods taken (results tomorrow) to check HCG levels. Apart from that they say there is nothing they can tell me until my 7 week scan - which is July 7th 😔

I am aware that ‘spotting’ is normal during early pregnancy but I feel that mine is definitely more of a bleed. Even though it has never been red/pink and no clots or cramping. I’m positive that what is happening, isn’t normal. I just want to know one way or the other but my gut feeling is that it’s a missed miscarriage 😢

I hope I’m wrong xx

Thank you!

Yeah unfortunately you need to wait till at least week 7 otherwise it's too soon to see anything at all. They waiting game is frustrating, I know how you feel, you just need to know :(

I was told that spotting is normal in early pregnancy but if lasts more than few days then you need to get checked, I was told that's not normal.

I pushed so hard to get checked but I ended up waiting 3 weeks hoping for the best :( and then it happened.

I really hope it turns out ok for you and everything will be fine I send you virtual hugs!

I agree. 9 days of bleeding is too long in my book. I’m not hopeful. Thank you for your kind words. Take care 💖

I’m praying for you that you’re blessed with your little miracle next time around 💖🤞🏼💖🤞🏼

I will post any updates as they happen up until my 7 week scan...

Until then thanks for the chat Laura ☺️

Despite the heartbreaking topic of conversation it’s always nice talking to someone who has been in your shoes and knowing you’re not alone ❤️

Thank you :) ❤️

Yes I agree, it's always good to talk to someone that walked in your shoes and understands your feelings. You're not alone :)

I really hope everything will be ok for you :) ❤️

I had lots of brown spotting between 6-14 weeks even fresh blood with clots at 10 weeks & not many symptoms only tiredness & sore breasts. My daughter is now 1 year old. Midwives told me brown blood isn’t a concern- only if it’s severe abdominal pain & full heavy bleeding is it a concern. That won’t stop you worrying because it didn’t me, I stressed the whole pregnancy I think after infertility one does worry more ☹️ Do get it checked over for peace of mind- they won’t be able scan you till at least 6 weeks ideally 7 as not everyone will see a heartbeat at 6 could cause more stress. All the best with your pregnancy xxx

Thank you Jess ❤️

I hope my outcome mimics yours.

Congratulations on your baby girl 💖

It’s so lovely to hear of a happy ending like yours as the negativity that consumes you during this type of experience is almost unbearable 😣😔

Much appreciated x

I had very very light bit of spotting and then stopped so my clinic said have to wait till 7 weeks! I wasn’t comfortable waiting so I went for a private scan at 6weeks. I no it’s only a week but You could do that so you don’t have to wait... sometimes it might be too early to tell but they did at mine xxx

We did consider an early scan (but can’t be done until next week anyway so going to hold tight and hope for the best at our 7week scan.

Blood results came back today and my HCG levels have doubled again. Nurse said that’s a good sign and try to relax. Nothing they can do further at this point. Just have to wait it out 😣🤞🏼😣🤞🏼

Thank you for your response 💖

Hi there,

I know it’s hard but please try not to worry. With my first IVF pregnancy which resulted in my 3.5 year old son, I bleed at week 5, then more at week 6 and more at week 7. My blood started off pink then was bright red. I was 100% sure that at my scan there wouldn’t be anything there and there was!! Everyone is different, everyone’s body reacts different.

There is still huge amount of hope, please look after yourself, have a nice warm bath and try to relax for the next 2 weeks.

Wishing you all the luck in the world for a heartbeat at your 7 weeks scan xxx

Hi Laura, I had bleeding/spotting from 2 days after my positive pregnancy test for 5 weeks every day. It was an ivf pregnancy with 2 embryos transferred and they think that I lost one early which could have caused the bleeding however with my son who was conceived naturally I had brown discharge throughly the whole pregnancy and he’s 5 tomorrow! I’m currently pregnant with another little boy. I’m 15 weeks now & the brown stopped about week 10. I had a scan at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat, it reassured me and was comforting so maybe have a look to see if you can get booked in privately. The hcg levels are reassuring. At the beginning of this pregnancy mine were sky high indicating twin pregnancy but then started to drop and then even our supportive of loosing one twin so if yours are still doubling I would take comfort in that xxx

Thank you so much! I already feel more confident with so many positive stories from others ☺️ I know I’m not out of the woods, still a long way to go but I can breathe a little easier tonight. My results came back today from yesterday’s bloods and my HCG levels have doubled so holding on to some hope 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your twin 😢 good luck to you for your pregnancy 💖

I am very sorry to hear that you are spotting, I know it must be very worrying for you. I just want to say that there are people who don’t bleed and unfortunately end up with a missed miscarriage (it happened to me) and people who bleed and they have no issues. There are many ladies on this forum who had fresh red blood and clots and had their babies. If it would make you feel better in the meantime, you can do hcg blood tes to see if the level doubles, or find clinics that offer scans at 6 weeks although it is not 100% guaranteed that you’ll see a heartbeat, but many people do!

I hope you’ll have a happy outcome and if you want to chat I’m here x
