3rd failed FET

We've just had the news that our 3rd transfer a (none pgta tested) 4AA embryo hasn't worked and feeling a little lost. We're NHS patients and have asked if it's possible to do any further testing on me . Were waiting to hear back if that's something they're willing to do.

Our Dr said that all my previous investigations have been normal and its more of a numbers game to get the right embryo to stick. Some just don't implant and some do.

How many embryos failing to implant is too many? When's the cut off where they think too many embryos have failed before they do further investigations?

I've also asked for a double embryo transfer which they're are considering but worried if there is something more going on we don't know about will it be futile to put two back?

We're very lucky and have 8 more frozen embryos but we don't want to keep repeating the same steps and expecting a different result.

Is 3 failed transfers pretty normal? Or should alarm bells start ringing?

I have PCOS but my hycosy came back clear and all my blood tests show nothing ontoward, my lining is always a normal thickness for transfer too.

Have we just been unlucky with these transfers or is it likely to be more than that?

Our clinic don't seem worried and have told us not to worry too much about it but I in particular can't help but feel something else is going on with me.

Has anybody experienced anything similar? Or got any positive stories after a few failed transfers?

Thanks so much in advance. xxxx

hey, I am also on my 3rd transfer and OTD is Saturday (currently 9dpt5dt), not feeling very positive as I have no symptoms :(

I am the same in that my eggs are ‘high grade/quality’, my lining has been great for each transfer yet it doesn’t seem to be working or even trying to work?

My clinic has also said it’s a numbers game but when your having to pay for each round it’s getting a bit expensive!

I don’t know what the answer is other than we’ve got to keep going and trying?

Hi LV2020Thanks for the reply.

I spoke with my clinic yesterday and they've agreed with the recurring implantation failure blood tests but said its more for my peace of mind as they think I'm fine and it is just a numbers game so will see what happens.

Lots of luck for this transfer, fingers crossed for you. Xxx

hey I had the BFN 😔. So frustrating when the embryologists are so positive at the transfer about the ‘quality’ of my embryos yet it still doesn’t happen.

I am defo going to ask them to make sure they test the receptivity of my lining before the next round. I’ve got 2 left which we’ll do another double transfer and hope it works!

Hey LV2020Gosh I'm so sorry. It really really hurts getting these BFNs

It sounds like we're in a similar boat. I had reoccurring implantation failure blood tests done on Thursday and will hopefully get the results this week but they still said to me that they think they'll be clear and we just have to keep trying.

Been feeling all over the place for about a week after the negative test but starting to feel brighter now.

I hope you're managing to stay positive somehow.

it really does. I’ve found it really hard this time, I really thought it was going to work. I’ve definitely gone through the upset phase, and am now just frustrated and confused as to why it’s not working.

The hospital said I’d get a follow up in about 6-8 weeks, and if I wanted to chat to a consultant earlier then I could go private for another £180/£230!

Let me know how you get on with your results , I’d be really interested. Good luck 🤞🏼

I declined a follow up with the consultant this time as we had a follow up a couple of months ago and he said he thought everything was fine and to just keep going. So rather than hold everything up to be told the same thing again when they offered a follow up I just said to the nurse, no thanks, if you're pushing for these blood tests then that's okay for now. I'll let you know what happens with these results! xxx

Hi, I've just seen this thread and interested to know which tests/investigations you are having done. We have just had our third failed round, one fresh and two frozen. We have unexplained infertility but have been told everything is really healthy. His results were great, I've had a laparoscopy and hycosy and was told these were textbook perfect. Our embryos are "great". My lining each time has been thick enough to proceed at first scan at more than 12.5. We are on NHS treatment (and very lucky with our NHS provision) and have been told they can do nothing more and it is just luck of the draw. We have a further 3 embryos. I asked about additional testing before our next round as was concerned about firing through the embryos without exploring any issues, but was told nothing was recommended. I also had the option to wait for a second consultant opinion but that would delay my next frozen round until after Christmas, which I didn't want to do, so agreed to try again. Just wondering what you are getting done and if I have made the right decision. Any experiences welcome. Thanks!

Hi Willow. So all I know Is that the blood tests we've had done were recurring implantation failure blood tests. I got the results yesterday and the nurse said they've all come back 'clear' but she couldn't go through them properly as only the consultant would be able to read the results properly. We have a zoom appointment on Wednesday with the consultant so I'm going to write down a million questions and see what he says.

We're so worried about like you say firing through these embryos without any answers were reluctant to have another transfer until we're confident every stone has been turned.

They told us too that it was just a numbers game and to just keep trying but each failed transfer is harder and harder to come back from mentally so I have/will be pushing for answers.

I'd love to know how you're getting on please keep me updated. Ash xx

It's good to see you've got things moving with the consultations and the tests. I think it really is just that some make it and some don't. But it's always painful getting all these frustrations. Glad to know you have all those embryos frozen. Makes things easier for you. Good luck on your next steps!

Thank you so much. We had our consultation this morning actually and feeling much happier. We're going round try a natural frozen transfer this time with the addition of aspirin. My cycles have been more regular lately so going to try this instead of medicated. All my tests were clear except my folate was high but he said it'll be the pre pregnacare and not to worry as my b12 Is fine so it's not a problem. So going into the next transfer feeling a little more reassured and hopeful. Xxx
