Waiting for miscarriage

Hi I had a scan 2 weeks ago at 9 weeks to find no heartbeat and baby had stopped growing at 6.5 weeks. I stopped all my ivf meds. Since then been cramping and spotting brown blood but nothing more. I have been offered medical management but reluctant to go in to hospital but this waiting is very hard. Anyone else waited so long

Thanks

Hi, I am so sorry for your loss. I have had similar happen twice and unfortunately my body just didnt recognise that the pregnancy wasn't progressing. The first time they left me two weeks and then another week but nothing happened so I ended up having surgery. The second time I had no heartbeat at 9 1/2 weeks having had a heartbeat at 6 1/2 weeks the baby had stopped growing at about 7 1/2 weeks - as it had already been two weeks and nothing had really happened I was referred straight for surgery.

Having said that on another occasion I had several MMC where my body realised within a week.

I think its up to your mental health and what you want to do. For me I just wanted it over with. in our area with medical management you aren't in hospital you are just at home - so that might be an option if you dont go for surgery.

Sending you a huge hug xx

Hello,

I’ve been in a very similar situation unfortunately.

Went for my 12 week scan and found out i’d MMC, around week 5/6.

I had two rounds of medical to remove the pregnancy over a month but neither worked. So after a total of 6 weeks I had surgery.

Personally i’d go and book in for surgery rather than waiting. It was a very quick process and didn’t feel a thing as I was put to sleep. I had very little bleeding and hardly any pain after the surgery.

Message me if I can be of any help and don’t wonder in silence xx

Hi, I was in a similar situation. I went for a scan at 10 weeks when the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks. I had a MMC and my body did not recognise the loss. I had to wait one more week then I would have taken medication but my body reacted and I started bleeding. All this time I only had spotting and brown discharge. The waiting killed me, it was so hard.

I am so sorry for you loss :( I so much wanted to get over with but i did not want surgery, i feared the scars for future pregnancies.

Hi thanks for your replies I chose medical management in the end. It worked quite quickly. Only bled for 4 days then stopped for a few days then brown spotting for a couple of days but that seems to have stopped today but my belly still feels uncomfortable.

Thanks
