Recurrent miscarriage

Hi all

I've recently had my 3rd miscarriage following IVF treatment. I've been referred on the NHS to a miscarriage clinic, but there's a long wait.

Does anyone have experience with a private miscarriage clinic? Looking for recommendations and advice from anyone who has managed to have a baby or even just managed to get some answers as to why their miscarriages might have happened and information on what to change for the next round of IVF.

Thanks

really sorry to hear about your miscarriage xxx

I ended up waiting for nhs referral, you can actually get most of initial bloods completed at GP although I think it needs to be at least 8/10 wks after miscarriage. The other option I took which might work for you is via Tommys? I think there is an option for funding some testing via them so it may be faster? I didn’t end up using them but I heard good things about them.

Thank you! And sorry you've been through this too. I am on the waiting list for NHS referral, but it's about a 9 month wait! I'm 40 now, so really feeling time pressure 😒

Did you get a referral from your GP for Tommy's? I don't think you can self refer.

I have spoken with another miscarriage clinic, but it's so expensive and my IVF clinic said they're often inconclusive anyway, so I'm trying to weigh up whether it's worth the cost or whether I should just try again and see what happens.

The IVF clinic are going to do a test for blood clotting (can't remember what it's called) and possibly Karyotyping if we decide to do another egg collection (we have a couple of frozen embryos left)

To go via Tommys you need a referral from your GP first but I think you could phone them up and ask for more information how it all works? I ended up not using them as got my appointment after 3/4 mths and I had already managed to get my bloods done straight away just at my GP after the miscarriage. Gosh 9 months is quite a wait 😢 could you ask your GP if you could do initial bloods with them? That’s what I did and then just waited until available appointment with consultant.

As well as miscarriage bloods via NhS we paid privately for karyotyoing and DNA fragmentation test for my partner. We have no answers from any tests all came back normal. The only thing we are considering if we continue to have miscarriages is genetic testing the embryos as that now is green traffic light on HFEA recommendations for recurrent miscarriage xx

hello, I am so sorry to hear about your losses. sending you a PM with private clinic suggestion. For the Tommy’s implantation clinic at Warwick, you can self-refer, no need to go via your GP. (They do an endometrial biopsy, but no RM blood tests) warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/med/r... xxx
