It is my first time posting here. I have been doing IVF for a few years and finally got pregnant with a PGS tested embryo, but it sadly ended in a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. I was pregnant with identical twins (the embryo split).
I have one more PGS tested embryo and I am super nervous. I know PGS is not an insurance policy but after so many years of trying, I thought this was it.
Has anyone else had a miscarriage with a PGS embryo? Did you have success with another PGS embryo? How many PGS embryos did it take you to have a live birth?
Hi luv. I'm sorry you've got this painful experience. Still I wouldn't blame PGS tested embies. There are lots of other reasons why they could not get firmly stuck. Unfortunately this happens and I'm not new to mc myself. Anyway, your dr should have made some explanations on the point, right?
This is absolutely a nice thing you've got your embies tested. This is a huge plus to the treatment flow. I'm hoping your dr investigates the case more. He might do some of the changes to the meds dosage and your protocol in general.. We aren't the experts here though. I'm just sure your luck is just behind the corner. BTW, have you ever heard of mitochondrial donation? The option is becoming more and more popular nowadays.. Sending you all my positive hugs x
PS. I was dealing both with OE and DE IVF. If any questions, do drop me a line.
Hi, @ashalez. Mitochondrial donation is a so called ''three parent'' method. For ivf shot the embryo/s is created from your own egg, your partner's sperms and donor's mitochondria. Mitochondria are the active egg cells which are aimed to supply the egg with all the needed energy for fertilization. Then they help the fertilized eggs to develop into embryos. The method is worth trying for ripe age ladies who've got own egg issues. (Of course as far as the eggs aren't damaged genetically. Then there's no point of using donor's mitochondria). The clinic I've been is currently using the procedure actively. There are lots of people willing to try out this path before applying for donor eggs with ivf. Hope this helps.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Miscarriage is so hard. I had a successful PGS pregnancy with my first transfer. I have a beautiful 18 month old daughter. We did another transfer in August with one of our other PGS embryos and I lost it at 5 weeks. Even though the embryo is tested things can still go wrong unfortunately. They freeze the embryos just as the cells are dividing and sometimes the continued division does not always go well. We just did another FET this past Wednesday so we’re hopeful! Hang in there!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience - so sorry for your loss, but delighted to hear you have a beautiful daughter!
I have decided to do another FET straight away after my first period post miscarriage - I assume you also dived straight into another transfer? I am mentally ready, I just hope my body is!! xx
Yes, I did one again right away as my doctor advised it’s actually the best time to try again. The miscarriage actually creates an environment in the uterus that promotes an embryo to stick, something about the uterus not having a smooth surface helps one stick.
My doctor is making me wait for two periods (plus a prep) month...so three months in total, plus it took two months for the miscarriage to happen - it is endless waiting, which is so hard.
