I have been diagnosed with moderate Fibrosis. Have had fatty liver for a long time but no one explained the seriousness of it. Have been on Methotrexate for over 8 years. Have been on steroids some time ago for over a year and half. This combination has not been great for my liver. The Liver blood tests were high for some time. Seeing a consultant to bring sort all this out. Looking forward to being healthy.

Fatty Liver issue.
It is good you are getting control of it. At moderate level it can likely repair itself with help. I'm not sure what your options are with medications and this is a discussion to have with your liver specialist. Outside of that, you'll want to baby your liver so it has to work less hard. No added stresses like alcohol, added sugars, refined flour products. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits. Exercise as close to daily as possible...a brisk 30 minute walk is good. If you have extra weight, lose it but in a steady healthy way. A lot of people add extra virgin olive oil and omega 3 fatty fish like salmon...these can be anti-inflammatory. Once liver inflammation (if any) is gone, the liver can start repairing the rest. Best of luck. It sounds like this was caught just in time to reverse but very important to do what you can now that you know. The British Liver Trust has lots of online info on recommended diet and on tests you might have. They also have a nurse hotline!
They never explain the seriousness of it. Therein lies the problem. I've had many doctors, even highly experienced MDs, tell me it's no big deal...
This was true for me— no one explained the progression risk. I was only told to lose weight, as if fatty liver was an inconvenience vs a silent disease. Only in my case, but the time I recognized the severity, I was told I had a genetic Alphatrypsin 1 deficiency that helped my fatty liver progress to cirrhosis. We need more education out there.
From now on, never take medicine that goes through your liver for any length of time. They have other meds, they just work a little slower. Inflation is hard to keep down as depending on what I eat how much swelling I get. Sugar is bad, but so good it makes it really hard to stay away. This is a silent killer, but you now understand the importance of this and can help cure yourself. I have lived with it for many years. I'm in stage 4 Cirrhosis and it's not fun watching what you eat while others are stuffing their faces.
Thanks loads for your advice. Much appreciated. I have stopped sugar and fried stuff but I still find it hard to reduce carbs. Will have to keep trying. Keep well and wish you a Merry Christmas.
That is great. It is good for so many facets of your health. Just curious, do you live in the states?
I live in London. Saying that my inflammation is now near normal after giving up sugar, fried food, processed food and red meat. It took nearly a year. Intermittent Fasting also works. Merry Christmas to you.
Sounds like you are on the right track. I was asking about your location because I know how hard it is to avoid the "western diet" over here in the US, but I feel like you guys have a much better situation over there when it comes to food. Merry Christmas to you as well!
what about other sweeteners, like monk fruit?
