Have right side abdominal pain and exhausted. Has my gallbladder out years ago. Just had a scan told fatty liver. Is this all the pain I feel on my far right side ? Or is it more that fatty liver. ? Would love to hear from people if they deal with pain all over the right side front and back. And any other info. Thx so much.

Hi

Sorry you are in so much pain. I was diagnosed with Nafld and then after a biopsy was diagnosed with Nash. I would push to be referred. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Thx for

Reply. I been dealing with this forever. Seems like I get pain and lose weight from basically not eating and depression. It all goes away and 6 months later after feeling great it all comes back. Always on right side. Tons of tests and all they ever found is fatty liver which everyone dismisses I just have issues believing it’s fatty liver. Because doctors dismiss it so easy. I have high cholesterol high tries. High blood pressure. About 15 pounds over weight take meds for all three. Any advice is welcome. Thx to all

doctors have been taught that fat in the liver is benign. That is true, until it isn't. As a result the average doc isn't concerned about advancing liver disease until you actually get sick and it is late in the game by then. We are very critical about how doctors manage early stage liver disease. You may have to be very persistent to actually get proper testing done.

I also experience the same pain. Diagnosed NASH in March and the pain has progressively increased. I have been exercising and I am very good about my diet. It’s a very confusing and frustrating disease. Keep your head up and find the motivation to do what’s best for yourself. I have my first Hepatology appointment this coming Monday (finally) since I was diagnosed. I am hoping to get some answers to help me understand where my NASH is because the pain sure is obnoxious. You’re not alone, keep your head up!

The problem you want your docs to figure out is if the fatty liver has progressed to NASH. Right side pain can have several causes but a common one is as the liver is stressed and enlarges and gets stiffer the nerves in the membrane that covers is are irritated and you feel pain under the ribs. Google the capsule of Glisson for an explanation. The first question is what kind of scan did you have? A standard ultrasound won't really tell you a lot. The easiest non-invasive test is a FibroScan which measure both liver fat and stiffness. A lot of docs rely on ultrasound but it is poor at seeing liver fat until it gets up near 30% of the liver and it doesn't really see scar tissue at all.

Thx for info. Yes it was just ultra sound. Er doc was like this is serious. Gotta get in shape. Like is

Said I’m only a tad overweight. But my regular docs and gi are poo pooing it like no

Biggie. The problem also is I think I have something worse cause docs say the fatty liver is no

Big deal. I will ask for next test like you said. Never heard of it. I mean I been tested. I even had a pet scan many ct scans and other stuff. Nothing shows up but fatty liver. I was intrigued that a ultrasound can only see fatty liver at 30 percent. I’m trying to

Deal with pain but it’s not easy.

Hi, this is going to sound strange. I had a lipoma which is a fatty non cancerous tumor. It had adhesions that were attached to muscles or something. That was causing my pain and I was diagnosed with fatty liver after the ultrasound and had a ct to make sure it wasn't cancer. I had the lipoma and the adhesions removed. My doctor does take it seriously. Losing weight helps. They say 10% of your body weight. I have lost 8 lbs so far. Hidden sugar, watch out for it. High fructose corn syrup was in the ingredients on my sugar "free" coffee creamer which I drank tons of in my coffee! No diet soda for me either. The sweetener in splenda and diet soda is not good. I stopped drinking even though I did not drink often. Just bad diet, watching the carbs from bread, grains, rice and potatoes. I miss potatoes. When I get to my goal weight and numbers I can have potatoes again but sparingly. Now I occasionally have a piece of oat nut bread with natural pb. Sugar is in most peanut butter. I have whole grain pasta once in a while but I make my own spaghetti sauce. The kind we used to buy had sugar in it! I read all labels now.

Yea. I’m on a keto diet now. No sugar. No bread. Trying to see if that helps

I bet it does. That is sort of what I did. Keto is hard, especially if you fast. I did not count my veggies and have fruit occasionally.

I’m just cutting out sugar and bread. Eating fruit and veggies and mostly meats and no carbs at all.

I have had it for years. Never get a straight answer. The good news for me is the pains come and go ,and don’t really hurt that bad. I’ve had my Gallbladder out too and am glad I did. That pain was real! Unfortunately, as I age I get pains in all kinds of places. I think the only thing we can control is eating as well as we can ,and limit or quit alcohol. I feel like sugar and excessive salt might be an issue too. If your blood tests are ok then what else can you do?

Never drank a drop my whole life. Sugar I tried cutting out. I always think it’s some kind of cancer because it keeps bothering me. Pain is real. Depressing. Flat out depressing

I think the Cancer leap is a big jump. Lots of things can cause abdominal pain IBS , rib prob, Muscle issues. I would try not to let your mind jump to that conclusion without something more than pain. Get more tests and you will find the culprit. Good luck😀

Yea. I hear ya. It’s the fatigue and pain and the depression. It all

Adds up. I try everything. Pain goes away and returns 6 months later. The cycle is crazy.

I also have bad ibs and diverticulosis. These pains are different. The only other pain could be your gallbladder. I've had mine out. But only indications were what seemed like super intense heartburn. Maybe twice a year. The final time it came it was the worst ever and didnt stop. Urgent rush to the dr and ultrasound showed one very large stone blocking the bike duct. I had it removed 4 days later.

The pain is likely associated to the Liver especially if it is in the upper right quadrant. The Exhaustion is likely due to diet. Give up fast foods and raw meats right off the bat and get rid of processed food. Eat more veggies and leaner cuts of meat to help you clear all the pollutants in your body.

Yea?? I wish I knew for sure. I try. Cut out sugar. Do better with that. Pain radiates under my arms. Is that normal ? Who knows. I’m trying. But tough. Thx for your help.

I have felt pain on my right side and towards the back. More under the right breast.

As we've all been told over and over, the liver feels no pain.

But if the liver is swollen, the capsule that surrounds it can signal pain from the stretching.

If you can try and reduce your fatty liver disease, this can go away.
