I finally had the fibroscan after the practitioner who ordered it quit the large practice. No results came to me so emailed them and got an apology, that everything came back perfect, no sign of fatty infiltration. No numbers, just a copy of a letter that never got mailed and still has not come. Strance that the MRI showed it? I was quite happy of course, sent a copy to my primary care physician and asked the large practice to please remove the diagnosis from my chart to help with my life insurance rate! The doctor sent back a note, no can do, I cannot reverse a diagnosis, sorry. What the heck! Has anyone had the diagnosis affect their life insurance? Mine is so picky, I had anti anxiety for about a month during my divorce years ago, and they almost booted me for depression!

When it comes to the human body, very few tests are 100% accurate. In the U.S. the tests only have to be able to positively detect a condition 85% of the time. This results in the possibility of false positives and false negatives. Without getting too far into what this statistically means, just consider that the MRI might be right and the Fibroscan might be wrong.
As for changing health record entries, best of luck and you may need a court decision to make any changes.
Thanks, none of my blood work was elevated when this started a few months ago. My primary care physician completely ignored the mri results. I thought the fibroscan was supposed to be more precise.
My hepotoligist wouldn't even do the fiberscan due to so many things that can affect an incorrect reading. My liver blood test were not elevated enough to really concern my primary but she referred me because of the Fatty Liver. An ultrasound showed it was enlarged to 23.4 cm. Long story short, I had a biopsy because all test showed something different and different level of damage. My first diagnosis was cirrhosis f4 but the biopsy was fibrosis stage 1 no cirrhosis. My record still states liver disease cirrhosis and has not affected my life insurance nor if I try to purchase more. Good luck, but I think I'd ask for more testing before ruling out anything at this stage of investigation.
