I am a 57 year old who reversed my NAFLD and NASH.
I tested positive for covid on June 3rd, video visit doctor sent me to ER for monoclonal antibody treatment. They took my blood and my liver enzymes were higher than they have been for years.
ALT 6O and AST 200
Have any of you experienced this and did your enzymes return to previous normal?
If so, how long did it take?
If not, how long since you recovered from your covid infection?
Thanks in advance,
Susan

No one checked my liver while I had Coivd. I took the antibodies within 24 hours of testing positive and the covid last about 3 weeks and they told me I would cough for about 2 months and that's about what happen. The last 30 days it was just a cough here and there but it sounded bad. No one checked my liver afterwards until about 2 months later, no one said anything.
No personal experience but infections can spike liver enzymes so not surprising. They should stabilize with recovery but if not certainly reason to pursue with your doc.
Yes-this happened to me in 2020. My enzymes have always been mildly elevated but after covid I had a significant increase. My ast and alt were decreasing to baseline after a little over a month but found GGT elevated (first time I had that checked). By June, after careful diet and exercise ast alt better than baseline. I just had covid again in April and should probably get rechecked ….I think about this in light of the recent pediatric hepatitis cases of unknown origin
Both of my enzymes hit triple digits last winter. Got a sonogram of my liver to confirm nafld with mild scarring. On noom diet now and off all my meds. BP is normal, sugar down into the 100 to 120 range regularly. I see my Dr in September to see how my enzymes are doing, but I have so much more energy (60 lbs later) I suspect they are better. I had BMI of 42, soooo....there ya go.
I didn't go to ER, Directly to infusion clinic. They know about my liver, stated to have my PCP check my labs after I am out of quarantine. The 5 days is up Wedneday but am still symptomatic,
I wish they had such a place here. I was forced to go to ER and take away staff from acute emergencies and then pay $350 copay. I am still grateful I got the treatment. My PCP said to wait a few months for things to normalize, but I messaged my hepatologist and awaiting a response. Wishing you all the best with your numbers!
My enzymes fluctuate all over the place but after each covid they go up , sometimes significantly (AST 1,000 ). This last time both AST/ALT less than 60 & ALK PHOS less than 200 x 3 - - I was so excited, as was my doctor. Then got covid AGAIN, back up to ALT 150's & both AST & ALK low 300's . I'm getting blood work soon. While my enzymes do this after covid, they can also do this by themselves. They really don't know why, only reasons given so far are NAFLD & covid. . Very frustrated & new to fatty liver diagnosis. Sorry I wasn't more helpful.
