To biopsy or to not

Received my 2nd opinion today. Gastro but MD, he said pretty much as last gastro assistant. He said he doesn't do fiberscans, he does blood test and biopsy. He said that because my blood test say F3 but scan says "probable" F4 isn't acceptable by him, he would want to know which. Altho you would eat and diet for both the same, he has seen more fibrosis regress than cirrhosis not that miracles don't happen. He said something about treating scars by using vitamin C, not sure, I must have zoned out. I asked about stopping progression, he said no real way to know except you not getting sicker. Cirrhosis can keep progressing as can fibrosis but that's not to say it will. He said with cirrhosis 10 to 12 years that they stop transplants at 75 because most older people have other problems, as long as you stay compensated but once that starts to go maybe 1 or 2 years. ..sigh...what do you all think? Biopsy?

I would want to know. I was F3-F4 on Fibrotest blood work then went to hepatologist who said to get a transjugular biopsy as he thought I was in cirrhosis and determining which F3 or F4 would determine treatment plan with scopes (endoscopies). Also the transjugular would determine if I had portal hypertension. It turned out I am F3 was no tests and go back in 18 months. Best wishes to you!

Same thing my 2nd opinion said. Different treatments, fibrosis he treats with vitamin C for healing that fibrosis can reverse at least a stage where cirrhosis can but isn't as likely. Since my blood test indicate f3 bridging and indeterminate and the scan said probable he would want biopsy. Thanks for responding, best wishes to you too..plus he doesn't seem to trust the scan.

I just found out about the vitamin C. No massive amounts regular vitamin C off the shelf, however I bought the melt in your mouth! Very sour and might irritate a sensitive stomach but they do make them for those people with sensitive stomachs, I will need to get those, 1000 mg.

Link doesn't work. Is that Vitamin C 1000mg a day?

Yes but it can bother stomachs so if you have a sensitive stomach get one made for that. Some bottles are 500 but instruction is take 2 per day.
