Hi all, I am 42 yo female. I have been Type 2 diabetic for 7-8 years. I was told I had NAFLD over 10 years ago because my liver enzymes were high. My doctor at that time acted like it was no big deal. he said its probably because you are overweight. I didnt think it was a big deal. My current doctor of around 2 years, was concerned with my numbers and when I had my gallbladder removed in March asked the surgeon to do a liver biopsy while he was "in there" It wasnt a very good biopsy because of the area it was taken from and it was during surgery however it showed some fibrosis. I was sent to a specialist who did a Fibroscan which came back at 12.6. That was in April. He told me stage 3. Nash with advanced fibrosis. He also ordered a buttload of labs. After 3 weeks he finally called and determined by the blood results that I am early stage 4. I have done a ton of research but I am still unsure, does anyone know if this "stage 4" is technically Cirrhosis? I dont see my PMP until May 31st.
Also, since my diagnosis I have completely changed my diet. All natural, no sugar, no preservatives, no red meat. I eat some chicken and fish 3-4 time a week. the rest is mostly fruits and vegatables and legumes with some skim milk products. I also do 4 Tbls. of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and I joined a gym.
Any suggestion of things I could do health wise or any questions I should ask my doctor?
Thanks, Amanda

The only thing you can do is to eat lots of veggies and exercise. I eat a green smoothie first thing in morning ( is not delicious but it’s what the liver needs ) and I try to eat steam veggies at lunch and for dinner. I exercise 5 days a week also. I cut all fried foods , carbs and fast food from my diet . I don’t eat read meat and I eat fish and chicken maybe once a week. I eat legumes ( beans , lentils ) almost every day . I don’t buy any kind of juice , I fresh squeeze it . Mostly grapefruit juice. I hope this helps . Will be praying for you.
Well done on changing your diet and your exercise commitment. I lm sorry I have no advice. I’m going for a Fibroscan 6/6 so won’t know anything until then but I just wanted to tell you that it’s sounds like you are working hard on what you have control over.
Sorry to hear this. Sounds like Cirrhosis but you need to ask your doctor as his or her clinical notes may show Cirrhosis. I’m there myself and it’s no fun. Currently I’m DECOMPENSATED. My goal and prayer is to not become COMPENSATED. Your doing some of the right things to help yourself. Below I will offer some additional 411. Hope it helps.
Do eat:
Grilled Fresh chicken (Max 4 oz.)
Salmon (max 4 oz.)
Veggie meats
Plant based foods
Salads
Brussel Sprouts
Broccoli
Turnips
Celery
Cauliflower
Raw almonds
Various beans
Eggs (1-2 max)
Turkey (non processed 4 oz. max)
Extra lean beef (4 oz. max twice week)
Olive oil (daily by spoon 2 am & 2 pm)
The above, make sure it’s quality 100% first cold pressed virgin olive oil.
Thank you so much. It is great to hear from others in the same position. I am already eating/ not eating the foods you have advised. It has been difficult until I think of the alternative. I wish you all the best.
Amanda
Hi
You are doing so well and I can't think of anything to put that somebody has already out!!
You have been through a lot. I also have Cirrhosis. At first my fibrosis scan showed stage 4, caused from Hepatitis C. After three years my liver is doing much better. My Digestive Disease doctor still does liver cancer checks and full blood work every 6 months. I’m also getting ultrasounds for body fluids from my liver. I’m doing so much better. My liver is healing. I’ve changed my diet, fresh vegetables, seafood, no salt and no aspirin products. I started walking adding steps everyday (know up to three miles a day). Good luck to you.
Do some research on l-choline bitartrate 150gm powder.
I take one teaspoon in 10 mls of water each day. I find it helps. It was advised by my gp. But do your own research. It tastes disgusting.
