Improvements from F4 to F3!!! Success story (well kind of😉)

Hi friends! If you have read my post before you know I am a 55 year old female with NASH and cirrhosis. I knew I had fatty liver for the last several years, but a January fibroscan of 265 and 15.5 led me to a biopsy and confirmed diagnosis of F4 NASH and cirrhosis. At this time I immediately dropped eating anything white and real sugar. I started drinking 3 cups of caffeinated coffee a day and walking 30-45 minutes a day. I went from 164 pounds to 130. I have taken vitamin E for years so only added some milk thistle and had been taking zinc, turmeric and cinnamon prior. Scanned again first of June and only dropped to a 14.4. BUT… my doctor added Actos to my list. (Definitely not saying this is the reason), but I went to Columbus Monday to join a trial and my new scan put me at 10.5 and 260 - so finally lowered me to an F3! Although I have cirrhosis, my 260 number was too low to qualify. They wanted F2/3 patients so I originally was too high for it and knew it - but I wanted the free scan 😉. I am thrilled beyond words and this research doctor praised me for the success. He assured me that this new lifestyle is working and that they have a pill that has 10 years of research already and is just around the corner to being approved to help us. They have all of my medical now and will contact me if I would qualify for any of their new trials. It was well worth the 2 hour drive! I do cheat at times (a real cookie, a glass of wine, a few bites of pasta, etc), but pretty much I stick to 50 carbs or less and no sugar except berries. They see patients with numbers much higher than my 15.5 and don’t have cirrhosis- guess I am the unfortunate rare one, but the fact that it finally lowered to F3 gives us all hope! Keep fighting NASH friends!!!

Congrantulations, diet is fundamental. I went from a 21.5 to 9.6 so stick with it. It took time to get there and it takes time to get back but on your way.

Wow, thaa impressive. Wayne, Would you please share with us your daily exact food intake? I'm sorry if you have posted this before..haven't seen it I don't think.

I am a pretty boring eater for the most part, but just try to be conscientious of my carbs. I drink 3 cups of caffeinated coffee a day with sugar free syrup and creamers (as I hate coffee) so I usually waste about 6 carbs a day on that, unfortunately (creamer is less than 1 carb and I usually double the doses). I drink a little unsweetened almond milk to swallow my pills, so at most another carb. Breakfast is always an egg and either bacon or sausage. Many times I have a piece of my Aunt Millie 1 net carb bread with sugar free jam (both have fiber too). (6-7 carbs total). Lunches - either Too Good or Keto yogurt (2-3 carbs), add raspberries or blueberries and some keto granola at times too. Meat and cheese, or one carb bread with no sugar added peanut butter. It varies honestly, but lunch is smaller. Love celery with dill dip or peanut butter too. Like cauliflower crackers too if I have some good cheese dips! Then supper is usually some type of meat (normally chicken) and a vegetable with a little dessert (like berries or keto brownies or sugar fee something. We love fajitas in the low carb mission shells with guacamole. If I haven’t had a lot throughout the day I allow myself some skinny popcorn for a snack in the evening, but I I usually try not to eat after 5:30/6:00. I have keto snacks, lots of nuts, and I drink a lot of water. I also found lemon/ blueberry waters and sugar free peach teas (no carbs or sugars) that I drink when I get tired of just water. I also indulge in a small diet pop once in a while too. I feel like I have a lot more options than years ago, luckily. I make blueberry muffins and zucchini breads with olive oils, almond flour, and I use monk fruit for sweeteners. My doctor advised me to follow somewhat of keto, but not crazy. He said low carb diets are actually around 100 carbs. I just never eat normal bread, rice, or any potatoes , or pasta. Walking 2-3 miles a day takes time too out of my day. Hope this helps😊

Very helpful! Thanks so much for sharing. I'm needing extra motivation because I lost 25 pounds doing lower carb and fasting, but then I went off the deep end and ate everything in sight and have gained most of it back.

When you say 50 carbs, are you counting your vegetables and berries in with that?
