I’m writing on this post to try to understand my husband disease.... NASH...his symptoms go off the charts at times..meds help ..but I think someone needs to take the time to go through them and see if they are doing that they are suppose to be doing..he had the tips operation about 8 months ago and it seems to be working..took a bit ... but it was worth it..the fluid is been reduced a lot! But he still has good days and bad days....not eating..confused..sleeping a lot..hand cramping and being cold. He’s had a lot of issues after finding out he has this disease...it’s been tuff but we are dealing with it...he is starting a study...being put on a high protein and low sodium diet.. we are hoping it helps ... he doesn’t have a good diet... along with being a diabetic and having kidney issues on top of all this ..we are doing the best we can....I just want him to be in some kind of normal life style..but ..I am new to this..so thank you for reading my post and any questions or concerns or comments will be nice...it’s good to know that you aren’t the only one dealing with this disease..support is a good thing!

Make sure that protein is not hard to digest. No red meat. Rest is very good. You do get exhausted fast. lots of water, but I'm sure he is taking something to get rid of the water as well. I use to swell so much and hold all the water, most of that gone now. Good luck.

A healthy diet is of the utmost importance. Fruits, veggies, grains, olive oil. Lots of water - no soda. As others have stated - cut out the red meat. I wish you and your husband well. It is a rough road.

My husband has NASH as well. He was doing really good until he had surgery a couple of years ago on his back. He had some complications (bleeding) and they had to give him more anesthesia than normal. His liver just about shutdown. He had MELD score of 19 and they were preparing to put him on the transplant list. His first paracentesis they withdrew 12 liters. Fast forward to today, he is doing much better only has the paracentesis about every 8-11 weeks and they only get 3-4 liters. Liver enzymes are just about normal.
