There is so much information now on living with Nash thanks to the wonderful work of the FLF. I am so appreciative. My question is now though which is better the Fibrospect test or the Fibroscan. The Fibroscan is harder for me to get and is only about $12 for me now with insurance and the Fibrospect is about $210. Is the Fibrospect worth the extra money for what it tells?

Fibroscan is a mechanical test measuring stiffness compared to the blood tests like Fibrospect so they give you different information. Their accuracy, in theory, is more or less the same but everyone is different so results can vary quite a bit but both provide useful information. A newer test is called LIVERFASt and it is the one I'm using. It is related to Fibrospect but I think it is a bit better. It is covered by medicare and some insurances but if private pay I think it is $199. Here is a link to some info. It is easier to get a blood test than a FibroScan so I like that but if there is big disagreement between the tests it is a sign that your doc needs to look more closely to understand why.
