I don't think anyone can tell you how long you have. I was told 20 years ago that I had 6 years. 14 years later I'm still here. I have tried to take care of myself, which is really hard in todays world. Now they tell me I've very high risk with this Coronavirus, but when God wants to call me home, I'm there. Nothing will change that. Live your life, but carefully. I look at it this way. I can get in my car and die in the next 10 minutes, I'm not worried about my illness as dying rather trying to live right to live.

Thanks for consoling....Sir you were told twenty year back for living 6 years.

What disease was diagnosed by doctor at that time?

I have NASH Liver disease. I went in for Gastic By Pass in May of 2001, they opened me up and aborted the surgery, saying it was the worst liver they have ever seen. They did take a biopsy while I was open and then told me they thought I'd live 6 years max.

How long did it take to progress from Nafld to Nash? Or did you only find out when you got Nash? Thanks

Way back in 1983 I had my gallbladder removed, no one said anything about fatty liver, but when I had gastric by pass in 2001, they found I had NASH, they aborted the gastric bypass because they told me it was the worst liver they had very seen. At that point I started looking through other surgical records and found the fatty liver in 1983 that no one said a word about. If I'd had known I'm sure I would of lost weight back then. I was around 190 then. In 2001 I was 283. I'm now on a great weight loss program and have lost 46 pounds since June. I weighted in this morning at 198. Hoping to be 160 by the holidays. I was in Stage 4 Fibrosis so hoping that is getting better. Hope this helps you realize it is a long progress, but once it gets bad, it's to late.

I aborted surgery was May of 2001. I'm still here and it's 2020. They said it was the worst liver they had ever seen and this was the gastic by pass doctor that opens up many heavy set people to do weight loss.

Hi Kul

No one can answer that question. You probably have some liver damage but if you manage it properly there is every reason to assume that it will be something else that kills you as the liver is tough if you give it a bit of consideration. You need to make sure that your docs understand what is causing your problem as there are many possible health issues associated with liver function but for most people a good diet and exercise program does wonders for the liver and health overall. Here is a link to our strategy for food as something to think about.
