After losing 75 pounds with a low carb diet (i weighed 225 due to an anti depressant), my Fibroscan total fat level went down from approximately 75%(over 325) to under 10% (225). The diet was very very challenging, but feeling proud that I did it...now to stay on the diet to keep blood sugar low!!!

thank you we all can do this!!! We all may not have the same end, all are different, but it can happen, My drs, said it could happen if I was strong and true to myself, so keep trying, it will get better...Ron
I started March 12th 2019 Low carb diet, started at 75 grams of carbs, now I have been the last 5 mos. at 30 grams of carbs./a day... grilled or baked boneless, skinless chicken, fish, some lean pork once in awhile. no bread, pasta, rice, potato, sugar, grain flour. no soft drinks, no alcohol. Water and black coffee only.I eat cheese lots of eggs, brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach. only no other vegis. Fruit only berries, straw, blue, black, and red rasberries, only no other fruit. I eat a salad a day mushrooms, boiled eggs and cheese. no tomato, no tomato sauce, no tomato, to sweet.Salad dressing Blue Cheese or Ranch, all other too sweet, to many carbs, I found a yogurt that is only 4 grams of carbs that is my sweet treat. Once in a blue moon, dark chocolate. No snacks no chips, crackers, no beans , but keep fiber in your system. I take 2 tablespoons of Meta mucell in a 8oz. of water at bedtime.as you will need something to help your bowels.....On your phone check out "My FitnessPal" & DietDr.com those are a life saver to aid in figuring out how carbs each food is ...fast easy, keeps track for you. Check it out, it works I know, Ron
No was within my fats level, but salad dressings are so sweet with oils, so many carbs, blue cheese is very low in carbs and was always a favorite, so salads are working well with low carb diet. RON
yes I have also been on Low Carb Diet 11 mos. I have also lost 75 lbs. 50 more to loose, I go Tues. to liver drs, last Aug. they were very impressed and said if continued, I would definately reverse diabetes, fatty liver, Fibrosis and said that they could tell me that they are allowed to tell me that I will also now be able to reverse some of my cirrohsis., So will let everyone know Tuesday what my new numbers are on Fiberscan/
I am very interested in what they have to tell you about any reversal. My dr did not give me any hope of that but I’m thinking he is wrong. I also just started low carb as every other attempt at low fat just left me hungry and ended up gaining weight ! With the low carb I feel satisfied for the most part. Do you have cirrhosis or only fibrosis? Can you tell me your fibroscan scores ? I’m looking forward to your news. Hope it’s all good. Congrats on your weight loss !!
Well I hope to be able to give you my original numbers and my new numbers tomorrow evening. Yes I have Fibrosis and some Cirrohsis and last Aug, was told by this Liver Dr. that I will see tomorrow that if I kept up my success I would reverse my diabetes, fatty liver, & Fibrosis and they told me that at that time they were confident that they could tell me that I could reverse "some" of my cirrohsis.I hope to learn lots of good news tomorrow, This low carb is the best way to loose weight and reverse it all. I only eat 2 meals a day never hungry, exercise, feel great, lost all my insulin 225 units a day. The low carb is a new way of life and do able, if I can do it anyone can...Ron
Well YEA !!!!!!!!! I got good news to day!! I am almost normal with all of my liver numbers, I have reversed my fatty liver, fibrosis, cirrohsis, My original numbers 1 year ago was 400CAP db/m ,31.1 E kPa , 5.5 IQR , 18% IGR/med....Todays numbers,
177 CAP db/m, 4.0 E kPa ,0.7 IQR , 18% IGR/med.....also she told me I am immune to Hep A & Hep B......she was overjoyed with my new numbers and me successful ability to reverse it all and be normal..she will do a CT scan in August. So now all I have to do is continue my new way of life low carb diet and continue to loose another 40 lbs ....Ron
You bet !!! We all can improve, we all can get healthier no matter how bad our livers are, any improvement is great and gives us more time, so lets keep doing what we need to do.. I have 40 lbs to loose yet and I will continue to stay healthy and I like to to have people telling me that I am looking good, and to have liver drs to be overjoyed with my improvement!!!!! Ron
sure I eat lots of grilled chicken boneless and skinless, grilled & baked fish, cheese, eggs, salads, vegis are " cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, cabbage" I could eat brussel sprouts but don't care for them. Fruit " any of the berries only, blue, black, red ras, & straw "......I eat some lean pork and occasional red meat. lean no fat.... I do not eat any bread, potato, rice, pasta , sugar, alcohol,no soft drinks, or milk, I drink at least 85oz. of water and black coffee., I got fantastic news from liver drs, today back to normal with liver, in a year.Any other questions give me a shout .....Ron
oh I do the same except have semi skimmed milk and dont eat pork, it hasn't had any slimming effect. Maybe i should give up milk too and get calcium from green veg as i have a severe vitamin D deficiency. I imagine others around my age and female are in the same way with menopause, sedentary lifestyle. Trying to stay positive and your initial post gave me hope.
I don;t drink any milk, tried skim milk for awhile and then was told by liver & barriactrics drs, to not drink anything but water and Black coffee, NOTHING, in the coffee, not any ideas on a woman's menopause but my wife takes 2 Vit "D"'s for her deficiency, she also takes Calcium and we both take magnesium....Ron
I hope there can be reversal.. my ultrasound showed coarsening but Fibroscan did not show fibrosis.. fat level score was over 300 and went down to 225 .. hope the low carb works.. for me it was the answer as I wasn’t hungry all the time.. hope also that liver can heal!!!!!
mine healed I reversed my fatty liver, my fibrosis and my cirrohsis, my diabetes is down A1c is at 6.8...I have lowered my BP meds in half and cholesterol is better than its been in 35 yrs. I have lost all diabetes meds including 225 units of insulin I was taking a day for years, my stomach is actually starting to heal. Almost been a year with no insulin. I have no pain I used to take several meds for arthritus, and gout now I take no meds for those problems. I have lost 80 lbs. You have to be strong and not give in to doubt. Keep strong. Its hard but it gets better, I feel 200% better than I did 15 months ago. Ron
I would love rather than just like this post. What positive news I would be delighted if you could tell me how you did it, what diet/lifestyle did you use. I'm nearing 200lbs now my weight just keeps plummeting with all the meds i am on for various health problems weight is not shifting and i am getting extremely fatigued. Any advice like this appreciated, and kudos to you for doing so well.
sorry for the delay in my reply, low carb diet down to to 30 carbs a day and exercise. No sugar ,or pasta, potatoes, rice, or bread of any kind, no sweet vegetables, only berry fruit. And a lot of willpower !!!!!
Hello. So I started out with cap of 336 kpa of 11. 1 year later cap is 278 and kpa is 12.8 according to fibroscan. I also had a biopsy that showed f3/4 fibrosis. I am so encouraged by you. My fatty liver is improving by scarring is getting worse. I hope mine can improve also.
As of 9-22 fibrosis assessment 8.9 kilo pascal kPa. IqR 2.8%, moderate fibrosis F-2-F-3, T.Billirubin .8, Alkaline Phos,51 235Mean CAP. Hope you can figure this out and we are going to do this we are going to work. And get better !!!!!
Congrats!!!Did you cut dairy out completely? I have lost 26 pounds since being told I have stage 3 fibrosis but I have plenty more to lose. What do you eat if your craving sweets?
