Your liver does so many things and iron is such a critical part of your red blood cells that there are linkages. There are many causes of high iron in the blood. Some symptoms of too much iron are fatigue, weakness and unexplained weight loss. Additionally, it can cause hair loss, shortness of breath and loss of sex drive. High iron can be associated with liver damage because of a genetic problem causing hemachromatosis for example. That condition is not related to NASH so it is possible to have both conditions and misdiagnosis happens as well. It is fair warning to get a specialist to figure it out. Neither condition typically advances quickly so spooked may be too strong of a reaction, but a resolve to figure it out is certainly appropriate and the average doc isn't really trained for that diagnosis. Try to see a hepatologist.
