Research study and Nash

My research Dr. called yesterday, she said all my test for the last 3 months have stayed stable with the test drug they are giving me. Sugar has not increased, Cholesterol is good and if anything is elevated is it only slightly. She said the research team has decided to up my dosage of the pill. She asked how I was feeling even though I see her once a month. Did I have a problem with changing my dosages? I told them lets go for it as long as it didn't make me more tired then I already am and if the itching didn't increase. Being tired and Itching has been very consistent. I believe the tiredness is coming from the drug cleaning the cirrhosis off my liver. At least I hope because that is what the pill is for. If it clears the cirrhosis off, the liver will rejuvenate. This is suppose to be a blind study, but I wouldn't think they would call me to increase a sugar pill. I hope this works so it will help all of you.

Good for you, we thank you. All of us who are able should participate in trials. It is the only way that we can get treatments

I have been offered an opportunity to participate in a trial. I have just been diagnosed with Cirosis secondary to NASH. I don’t drink or use drugs. I have no symptoms so this was a complete shock to me. I go next week for a screening visit to see if I can participate in the trial. My mind has been swimming. I hope I am doing the right thing. If you all could remember me in your prayers, I would be so grateful. God be with all of us as we walk down this road together.

I was diagnosed 20 years ago when they open me up for gastric by pass surgery and they aborted the surgery. Any weight loss has been on my own. So far on the trial out of 4 months I have had 1 bad day. Not sure what it will be like when they up the dosage, but I guess I will find out. I can always quit taken it, but that will not help me or all of us. We need a cure 1 out of 4 are now being diagnosed with NASH. We need to find a way to stop it. I try not to eat food with preservatives, but all the good stuff has it. I just don't take the time or have the time to cook properly. I need to force myself if I want to live another 20 years. Livers can turn on you at anytime and then you have a short 9 months to a year. But I look at it this way. I could be killed in a car accident before I get home today, so I don't worry about it. When God calls me home, I will be gone. If I'm meant to find a cure then I'm there. Good Luck

Being in a trial has two benefits. It is best medical care you can get because they really need you to not have a problem and only through trials will we get therapies so thank you for considering it.

The trials have not worked for me. They asked me this last week if I would go on another one and I said sure. Anything to find a cure. I'm still about 214 after being at 283 and would love to lose another 50 pounds and trying to mentally get there. Stress is what keeps me heavy and what makes me sick. Keep stress out of your life. I'm going on 23 years of stage 4 NASH/MASH
