Hey, all I took my blood tests and my MELD came to 14. My Child-Pugh test came out at B8 to term all appears ok for a Cirrhotic Patient. However, I was placed on a note in my records as someone with a short time to live. They listed me as a short life span alert 1 - 3 years. What gives?

That probably comes from the MELD score. That calculation is really designed for people who are hospitalized. It calculates a probability of death within 3 months and 14 falls in the 27% range. It can be really misleading when applied to someone who is stable but it is fair to note that your risk is high compared to someone without liver disease.

I am sure that would freak me out too! Wayne answered it so perfectly. Sometimes it is painful and frightening to get those reminders that we are more at risk than those without liver issues but focus on your healthy choices and live the happiest best life possible. A good attitude with prudent choices will render the optimal results.
