Wondering...will a KETO diet help combat a fatty liver?

KETO and fatty liver
Hi Deb
A more complicated question than it seems. Keto can cause you to lose weight and in the process pull fat from the liver. The problem is that the liver has to make all of those ketones so it is working harder and it is also breaking down excess protein. A healthy liver can do those things fairly well but if you are working with a damaged organ it may not go well so not a risk free strategy.
Thanks for the information...I really need to lose weight. But it seems I only lose weight on a low carbohydrate diet. And I was told last October I have a fatty liver?
low carb or more specifically low sugars and starches is the way to lose weight. The way to think about it is that a high mono-unsaturated fat like olive oil is your friend. Fats are your key to energy and you also need insoluble fiber for your colon health. Sugar adds fat to your liver but interestingly unsaturated fat is better for the liver and it works less when your main energy source is fat but in the end excess calories are your enemy. Here is some information if you would like to explore the subject
