....was that my fatty liver was not inevitably going to cause future problems, or get worse over time, developing into a more serious liver condition. The most positive comment was that lots of people have it and get no further complications. (Live with it, in other words). I would like to have heard that it was in fact reversible. To be honest, I am fitter and feel tons better today , precisely because I have several health issues. Sheer fright at several bad diagnoses has sent me scurrying to self help groups (like healthunlocked) and googling medical sites in search of answers. That is probably the most interesting thing I have learnt. I am heart-aware (atrial fibrillation), diet -aware (diabetes and fatty liver and weight), exercise- aware ( dermatomyositis), and mind-aware (depression). My advice to anyone newly diagnosed, would be to join a support group, educate yourself about your condition, and be prepared to tell your doctors any good things, or effective treatments, that you have found for yourself. I have found that my gp s, over the years, are very open to people who are pro active in their health care.
