Hi, my daughter has always suffered with bouts of constpation since she was a few months old. We used to give her lactulose for a few days to get things moving and would usually go every other day.
She has just turned 2 and over 2 months ago she strarted sitting down on the floor and it looked like she was straining to go, but I realised she was actually holding it in as it was so hard and hurting her. She became really well after not going for a few days so we brought her to a&e. They did an x-ray and found she had a backlog of poo and did an enema to get things moving and prescribed laxido and told to take 1-2 sachets per day.
She then passed some hard stool that evening and the next day did a normal type 4 stool. I started on the 2 sachets per day which she had for 3 days but her stools are extremely loose and frequent now. The good news is she is no longer witholding and actually tells me when she is going to go (still in nappies) .
I reduced the amount of laxido I am giving her to see if the stools become a bit less loose.
Does anyone have any advice on if I am doing the correct thing?
Thanks!
