This happened a few months back, but my brother who was 11, was desperate for the toilet in class. The teacher knew he was desperate, rather than messing around. He asked again and was refused. My brother started wetting his self, he decided to spill his water bottle on his trousers and make a scene of it, the teacher apparently shouted. “ Do you think I am stupid, it’s not water”
He was told to get changed into his PE kit, but was given no change of underwear so was smelling throughout the day, it was obvious what had happened. Fortunately no bullying occurred.
this incident, has left him worried and embarrassed. Is there anyone on here who has had accidents like this nature before, and of a similar age to put his mind at rest?

This is barbaric! There is no excuse for a teacher or school to deny a student knowing that a student will have an accident in class and requiring the student to pee his pants during the lesson. I understand the need to have a rule that routine toilet visits are not allowed during lesson time.
If the student is well and there are no medical issues, my suggestion is that if student is desperate, a 10 minute lunch detention be given if a student leaves the lesson for a routine toilet visit. Toilet visits due to illness or a medical issue should be considered excused with no consequence given.
It was cruel for the teacher to tell the entire class that it was not water that had made his pants get wet. Let the student have some dignity and tell his friends that his water bottle leaked.
Schools should have a cheap off brand disposable nappy in all sizes for any kind of accident. Having spare clothes in nurse’s office is OK. However, no one wants to wear some one else’s underpants.
The student wearing a nappy should still have access to a toilet like every other student. Tbe nappy serves only as disposable underpants.
Sunce all students have a PE kit. no student should have to wear wet clothes the rest of the day.
If a parent or someone can bring clothes to the school, then the student should be allowed to change. A PE kit is not ideal, but it beats wearing peed in pants the rest of the day.
Students should be able to privately change in the nurse’s office, not the students’ toilets where privacy is questionable.
Again, teachers telling desperate students no to a toilet request is humiliating to a student and should not be done. Instead give a small consequence to students who abuse the right to go to the toilet during lessons when there is a need.
