My 4 year old recently started school and has been having 1 or 2 accidents most days though he did have one day this week with no accidents. At the end of the summer we disimpacted and then settled on a maintenance dose of 2 sachets of movicol and I don’t think he is constipated any more - we are no longer getting overflow poos and he is largely doing poos in the toilet but I don’t know what to do about school…. I spoke to his teaching assistant today and it seems they are prompting him to go every hour which to me feels like it will make it worse not better. At home I rarely prompt him, when he’s not constipated he knows when he needs to wee and we do regular toilet sits to try for poos after meals. I feel like by prompting him he is just forgetting how to hold wee for longer than an hour and also not learning to decide for himself to go when he needs to. I don’t know though and don’t feel like I have the confidence to tell the school not to prompt him so much given he’s having accidents as this will likely result in more accidents initially. Anyone have any advice? I really don’t know what to do ☹️

Speak to the school and arrange for a care plan to be put in place. You are your sons voice, his advocate, he needs you to speak up for him. You are right though, he does not need toilets sits every hour, ust after every meal time.
Wee accidents or poo?If it's for wee, Asda sell triangular pads that you can stick in the front of his pants, they will hold a small accident but will keep him dry until he can get to the loo.
