Colonic transit test

Hi has anyone else’s child had the colonic transit test before and has it resulted it a diagnosis of hirschsprungs before? My 8 year old daughter is currently undergoing this, a private dr stated she needs a rectal biopsy for hirschsrungs disease but my hospital dr won’t do it. Anyone else have the same worries or had the test and it came up with something different? Thanks in advance x

Hi - we’ve not had the colonic transit test but we are on the waiting list for a rectal biopsy to test for hirschsprungs. My little girl is also 8. We have been accepted for it because we have a family history (my nephew) but we went on the list in November and still no date because of COVID. I understood that the biopsy was the only way to diagnose hirschprungs. I really pushed for the biopsy as I read that hirschsprungs can get missed in girls as it can present as a lowered volume of the cells rather than no cells. This isn’t exclusive in girls but potentially more girls than boys present this way. Hope that helps??
