Movicol contains sodium bicarbonate whereas laxido contains sodium carbonate which is more caustic and less effective. Movicol I'd more expensive and therefore GP's are less likely to prescribe it. Movicol is not so harsh and does not cause so much pain and bloating! I have used both - stick out for Movicol.
