Hello, has anyone tried seeing an osteopath for bed wetting?
There’s one near me and she thinks my son may have misalignments in his spine that might be blocking messages/causing sensitive bladder. She thinks a few sessions will help. I think we might give it a go?
Does anyone have any experience of this??

Hi, I have no experience with this but I know a lot of people who have taken their children for sleep issues and it has worked. The thing is you won't know until you try and anything is worth a try. Fingers crossed it works for you and your son x
I’ve been in contact with a paediatric chiropractor for my 10 year old and 7 year old boys. They’ve both been on the desomelt tablets to no joy and the chiropractor thinks alarms aren’t the best way to go due to the disturbed sleep. So I have my fingers crossed for this! 🤞🏼
I took my daughter to a chiropractor about day wetting. This lady had apparently successfully treated for bed wetting in the past and she identified some misalignments in the bladder zone of my daughter’s spine. I chickened out of taking it further as I just couldn’t bring myself to let someone manipulate my five year Olds spine in case it wasn’t good for her somehow. However, somewhere on this forum is a thread from a year ago or so about someone who had both her sons successfully treated with a chiropractor for bedwetting.
So we went for it and took him to the osteopath. She said he had a misalignment and a twist in the area she would expect to find something when bedwetting is happening. She thought it would take 6 sessions. After 6 sessions nothing had changed he was still totally soaked through every night, by the 8th session I thought it was time to give up as nothing had changed.... but then he was suddenly dry for three nights for the first time in his life!!! It was about 50:50 for two weeks so she suggested another session and then a top up in a month... I really hope he cracks it now!!
It was all very gentle and no worrying manipulation.
Really interested to know how this goes.....do you know if your osteopath has had similar success for day wetting too? My daughter has OAB but then recently we found out she had constipation issues too so am now not ruling anything out that could help as who knows what else might be playing a part?!?
Yes I think she deals with all kind of wetting. She was very highly recommend and is very up to date on her training - i would definitely make sure you get someone experienced.
From how she explained it, it sounds like if there is a missalignment at the bottom of the spine, the nerves go from there to the internal organs (eg bladder)... so messages might not get through.
She also said his bladder was slightly twisted out of line - She thinks this is why he wees more frequently that his little brothers
That is very interesting! Great news for you🤞. I’m dealing with sleep , oab and constipation so would be amazing if it worked! Please do Keep us posted...love drug free approaches...
My son (8) is mostly dry now. I think he’s had 3 wet nights in 3 weeks. We went on holiday without pull ups for the first time ever!!
I’m taking him for a few monthly ‘top ups’ to try and get him totally dry.
It’s definately the osteopath. He had never ever had a dry night before (I’m talking absolutely soaked through pull ups/bed/duvet) and we’ve tried everything else
Hi I’m at my wits end with my 11 year old son. We’ve tried desmomelts, lifting, charts, bribery 😄 and tolterodene. We have an appointment with the paediatrician tomorrow but I know he’s just going to say we will have to wait and see now and it’s just a matter of time. I’m interested to know if your osteopath was qualified in some way (other than osteopath). He’s seen a chap before but he crunches him about so much with no luck and I stopped taking my son as he was doing more harm than good. Any tips on choosing an osteopath? We’re in Kent.
Sorry you've had such a hard time with medications. Did you find an osteopath in Kent. We live in Tonbridge and are also considering this method of treatment for overactive bladder.
