Can someone tell me if im just worrying for the sake of worrying. We have just finished our second disimpaction programme. We are just coming back down the movicol to the maintenance dose. I dont know if my son is doing enough quantity considering what he is eating. This has been difficult when it is watery but now he has not been today. I'm so scared he will start to block up again before I know it. He is of school because he has been to watery and when he has to go he now can't physically move so I'm carrying him to the toilet. Has anyone else had this problem???

Yes we have. I think I wasn't giving enough movicol, so she now has three and a half sachets a day plus half a spoonful of senokot. Maybe they need more as they get bigger, she's nine now. It's still not perfect though, so tricky !!

My 7 year old daughter has this problem. When she gets the need to go she says if she moves she will just do it so quite often I have to carry her. She is off school at the moment too on a disempaction regime although we are struggling to get to watery stools.

How much movicol are you giving now?

Try getting him to stay on the toilet for a good 20 minutes after lunch, sometimes my daughter doesn’t think she needs to go but when she’s sat on there she does actually go.

Good luck I hope you manage to find the balance, I know how hard and upsetting this is for them and for us.

It is so nice to hear someone else going through this. He has been up to 12 movicol over Easter. It wasn't working. We were emitted into hospital so they then tried senna and sodium picolate. Which got everything moving. So we went back to the senna and movicol and now we are on 4 to 6 sachets of movicol( last 2-3 days)I have got type 6 on the Bristol chart but now I don't think he is passing enough again considering what he is eating and yesterday he didn't pass anything. They want him back at school to try and help conceur the holding issue. But i dont know how to make this achievable. So scared he will get bullied.

I’m the same with my daughter. She has urinary incontinence issues too, and most days when I pick her up she is wet but too scared to tell anyone. Luckily no children have said anything yet but it’s bound to happen.

In all honesty I wouldn’t let the school situation stress you out, your sons health (physically and mentally) is more important and you can pick up work to do at home. Just let them know is more important you get this balance right first otherwise it will just result in even more time off.

Maybe try upping the movicol again? He might just need more than the 4-6 at the moment and then just really gradually wean down.

It’s really hard, I wish there was a way we could see what’s going on it feels like guesswork!

I don't know if this may help you. I had a word with the school to see if my son could use the staff toilet. They said yes. I think he feels reassured no one else will see him and it is a safe place for him to go. So he can get changed there if need be. Since we have done that he is not holding the same in school. Would this give your daughter a bit of confidence and is it possible she could just leave the class when she needs to?

Will try that with the movicol. Thank you
