My 7.5 year old has been night time wetting for a while now. He has been on 240mg desmopressin for 2.5 months now which worked to start with but for the last month, he has wet bed every single night! Just dont know what to do now. Its draining - he doesnt wake up wet so every morning when I get him up for school he is soaking wet. HELP!

I totally hear you - it's exhausting and grim having wet sheets every day isn't it.

Sounds like you had a good month or so and then a bad month or so? Did anything else change?

I guess it's possible he needs to try something else, whether in combination with the desmo or not - I don't know if that's one dose or two but the first thing our nurse tried was increasing the dose, and when that didn't work we combined it with another medication.

Did you get the desmo from the GP or have you been referred on for more specialist help from e.g. a nurse eneuresis (?sp) clinic? I have found a really helpful nurse now (it took a while) and I think she's making a difference. But anyway definitely keep asking for help!

My daughter is on and off with the wetting so I've taken to just marking on the calendar dry nights and wet ones - the nurse said it was pretty useful to be able to look at it over the three months between appointments and see if any patterns emerged. Don't know if that's a helpful idea...

Good luck and hope you have less sheets to wash in the future :)

Thanks for your reply. His wetting is definitely linked to his mood. During half term he didnt wet bed once but back at school now and we are back to nightly. He is having a tough year as doesnt get on with his teacher at all. :(

Poor kid :( Arg it's horrible when they don't get on with their teacher. How bad is it, is there any chance it'd improve with a sit-down chat with the teacher? Or could you go over his or her head to the head-teacher... ?

I think the best option would be to go back to the GP or Incontinence service and see if you can get something else. Looking at other threads it takes a while to get meds that suit.

The constant washing of bed clothes must be exhausting and I do feel for you. When my son wa night wetting due to constipation I made his bed with double layers of sheets and bed pads so that if he did wake in the night I could shower him strip the bed and get him back into bed without having to remake it cutting the time he was awake in half.

It may be time to discuss pj pants with him until the meds can be sorted just to help you out. I know it's not the best solution but it's just a stop gap.

Best wishes
