How long till my periods come back after prostap??
Everyone is different.. like everything else with endo!
I think the average is about 3 months? Some ppl take up to a year... that said, some people never get them back too. I've been off the injections for 5 months and still haven't had one.
Hi, I had the same worries last time I finished my prostap injections. Apparently the average is upto 12 weeks but mine took 6 months. I was very worried that I was in permanent menopause but it did come back eventually. If you go to your GP they can do a blood test to test hormone levels which can say whether your periods are likely to come back, please don't worry it is very rare that it leads to permanent menopause. Hope that reassures you x
Oh I am so jealous. I wanted mine not to come back for ages but 4 weeks is all the break I got Arghhhhhh. [i was on zoladex though]
Though if you do want them to return sooner it's a pain in the you know what, when they don't. and every day is a will it or won't it be today worry.
It shouldn't be too much longer by the law of averages juunie. 10 weeks is heading for the average time so ought not to be too long to wait now.
Though in a very small number of cases they do not return and the ovaries remain shut down for good. It is very rare for that to happen but not unheard of, even on this forum there are a couple of such cases that i recall reading on here.
You might not want to hear this, but try and enjoy the time off, your endo will appreciate the break it has had, and the longer the break from endo growing, the better for you.
Thank you all for your answers, will gave to wait and see I suppose!! In the mean time I'll enjoy not having them!!!! X
I think mine was 16 to 20 weeks (although I also have pcos so it's not unknown for me to go 6 months or 6 days!), then another 6 months to get more regular.
X
Mine came back after 7 months, and they felt different to before. More breast pain etc, however endometriosis is not as bad as before. However I had bowel trouble with my periods before but now they are worse. Maybe hormones spike when they come back. Just a thought! x
