Hi

It all depends on the work they will do inside. If it is only diagnostic then in a week or so you will be fine. If endo is removed, ovaries moved, adhesions cleared etc etc then it will take at least a few weeks. But everyone is different! Allow yourself at least a couple of weeks and then take it from there. This is what I did too.

Sometimes recovery time depends also on the gas pressure that the doctor will use during the lap, the lower the pressure (less gas), the faster you will recover.

Good luck

Hi lorena,

Its a hard question to answer as everybody is different and feels pain differently. It will also depend what they do when they have a look inside you and what they find. Id say from what i felt is give yourself at the very least a week to see how you feel, so that will be a self certificate for work, then if your still tender and sore go to your GP to get a line from them to give to your work.

Good luck for monday, hope everything goes ok for you :)

I've had two, the first one they removed endo and I was in a singing competition 3 days later so felt ok. The second one they didn't even do anything but they had a really deep look around and it took me two weeks to do anything afterwards so it's different everytime, good luck x

Well, my first lap, didn't go to plan at all. Left me critically ill for 2 hours after damage yo my epigrastic vein was cut. I lost 6 pints of blood. Needed life saving second surgery. Had that and took 12 weeks to get some normality in my life and back to work. Second lap took 3 days! I hope for the latter for everyone!

As demonstrated, everybody is different! I had 2 weeks for my first lap and cyst removal, had some blood loss which made me feel rough for about a week. Don't rush back to work, give your body time to heal.

Hi,

I just had a lap nearly 2 weeks ago and doc signed me off for 3 weeks as it was a 3 hour op and they had to remove some deep endo from various places as well as a hysteroscopy to remove fibroid. I had a lap in the summer which was diagnostic and they didn't remove the endo as was too deep but it only took me about 5-6 days to get back to normal. This time I was in a lot more pain and had to stay in hospital overnight and is taking me a lot longer to recover. I have been off work for just over 1 and half weeks now and while I'm not sure I'll need the three weeks I think I will probs be off for the rest of this week but just taking each day as it comes. Your surgeon will know what's best for your individual case and while I've read of many feeling fine after 2-3 days / a week it really depends what they've done inside.
