endo diet: please can anyone give info on... - Endometriosis UK
endo diet
Hi
I would recommend Carolyn Levett's book "Recipes for the Endometriosis Diet" for getting a good overview of the diet, which you can view online at openisbn.com/isbn/0955678501/ and you can buy it from Amazon etc. I don't think the weblink will let you view the whole book but it does let you view the intro section which sets out the basis of the diet, which foods to avoid and ideas of what you can replace them with etc so that should give you some information.
I found the book to be inconsistent in places but it was still the best starting point I came across and helped me understood more of how the diet worked etc.
I have only been doing it properly for 2 weeks but I have definitely noticed some improvement (and lost some weight!) and I haven't found it particularly difficult to stick to either so far.
Good luck x
I've been on the endo diet for around 6 weeks. I am feeling better and my last period was very light with no pain, touch wood! Basically I've cut out alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, wheat and sugar. I'm also taking an agnus castus tincture.
Dian Shepperson Mills' book is also very good at explaining the nutrition issues around endo and has lots of info on changing diet. I am making changes step by step as it's a lot to take on all at once. My big thing has been to cut wheat and the effect has been extremely positive. There is a LOT less pain and fewer bloating and bowel probs. I've also cut out chocolate and greatly reduced caffeine - only once cup of coffee a day, herbal teas and water the rest of the time. I have reduced dairy as well but I really think wheat is the main culprit. I'm having rye bread but not every day. Will try a pasta substitute soon but so far have stuck to small portions of rice or potatoes for carbs.
