Has anyone else researched the effects of soya on hormones? Ive read a bit and apparently soya acts in our bodies like oestrogen and therefore negatively impacts on our endometriosis?

Soya and its impact on hormones?
this is a contentious one. there are two schools of thought on this as soya is high in phyto-oestrogen; 1) eat it and it will stop our bodies and endo producing oestrogen and therefore endo can't grow as much; 2) don't eat as it adds to our already oestrogen dominant bodies and condition.
personally, i've been a vegetarian for 30 years and therefore consumed a HUGE amount of soya and was diagnosed with endo, so i don't eat it now.
Soya is also massively genetically modified (to resist pesticides) and treated with pesticides to grow more as it forms bulk in all diets (what chemicals are we ingesting?) the first school of thought suggests eating only fermented soy (which is difficult to get hold of).
this is a good article on it

however, there is also evidence to suggest that soy increases tumours, this is mostly anecdotal (google soy and tumours) with the suggestion that the 'real' evidence has been suppressed by the multinational companies who make billions from soy production (see Monsanto - a very unsavoury company).
i have tofu once in a blue moon. i miss it as it formed a huge part of my diet but following research i will never eat it like i did. and tbh, i never feel very good after eating it.
thanks so much for your in depth response, i think i need to do more reading ! nothing is ever easy when it comes to endo !!
I have been reading about this too and it can be a little confusing the advice. I too have been a vegetarian for some years and have had soy products as part of my diet. I am going to try and cut it out see how it goes. Have pretty much cut out wheat for a while and am now researching and have started to cut out dairy. Anything has got to be worth a shot with this disease, I've already had 2 surgeries this year and I do not want any more.
i have cut out dairy and wheat for the past 8 weeks, im disappointed that i dont really feel any different but i shall continue with it in the hope that i will eventually reap some reward from my restrictive diet
