Before I started the injections I was told by my consultant that I could only be on the Prostap injections for six months and then had to have a six month break in between before I could get them again. Dont know if it's different for everyone though

I think it's different for everybody, and also different doctors have different ideas

I am only allowed it for six months at a time before I have to have a six month break, but I know of ladies who have been on it for 2 years or even more

If your GP/gynae has prescribed it for you for that period of time, I would imagine that they think it's right for you, but if you're worried about it just ask them :)

I've been on prostap for almost 3 years now...This was from a dr who wouldnt operate on me again and the rate at which my endo grows is crazy so they have kept me on it to slow the growth and my periods are so painful i cant even explain the pain i get. anyway are you on any HRT for giveback and protection for your bones and have you been for a DEXA scan to check your bone density? this is very important as the prostap (esp for this long) can suck the calcium out of your bones and lead to an onset of early osteoporosis. make sure you speak to your dr about this!

theres a really amazing facebook group. the ladies are amazing and so helpful and friendly :) just ask to join

I was on it for a year, I was initially told 6 months but it took that long to stop me bleeding. After that I was on zoladex for 6 months and then had a hysterectomy.

All doctors seem to have their own idea of how long we should be on it and what we should be on. i say find a dr who listens and understands and is educated in Endo and go with their advice. best of luck :) x
