I'm sorry I don't have any solutions for you, but I'm in the same boat.

I've been suffering with bowel problems alongside painful periods from the start, and when I had my laparoscopy the consultant wasn't expecting as much endometriosis as she found, so she wasn't confident enough to remove it all from my bowel. And the problems continue... As it's such a sensitive area, and the things can get so much worse if anything goes wrong in an operation involving the bowel, I can't imagine it will ever get sorted out.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any solutions..? But I've resigned myself to the fact that it's just something I'll have to learn to live with.

Hi Embo & Bianco,

I too get bowel problems, and I find using Slippery Elm tablets from the health food shops helpful. It also helps if I have trapped wind, as this causes me lots of pain too. It is completely natural, as it is from the bark of a tree, and it helps to smooth the lining of the bowel and stomach if it is irritated.

If its is painful when opening your bowels, it best to put your feet up on a little stool or on a pack of loo rolls so that your knees are higher than your hips as this helps to straighten out the natural kink in the bowel, and enables things to pass out easier. If you haven't got anything to hand just raising your heels. Leaning forward with your forearms resting on your thighs will help too. Also straining will make the pain worse, so make sure you keep hydrated and eat plenty of fibre

xx
