Failed Surgery To Tie my Tubes and Remove Endometriosis

I have stage4 endometriosis and I went for surgery to tie my tubes and remove some endometriosis yesterday as I have blood in my tubes seen on MRI ( haemosalpinx). The surgeon unfortunately did not do anything after opening up my tummy. He said that my anatomy was distorted with lots of scarring and adhesions and he could not identify which organ was my fallopian tube or my uterus or bladder so , he just closed up.

My question is that the main reason I went for the surgery was to tie those tubes to avoid leakage during IVF and to improve my chances in my next IVF but now that it was unsuccessful, what do I do next?

Does anyone know anyone with my kind of experience who was still ever successful with IVF?

Was this carried out by an endometriosis specialist in a BSGE centre? Or your normal gynae department? If it's the latter then they need to refer you to a specialist centre and I'd ask for an MRI so that they can see what they're dealing with (which is the first thing an endo clinic will do). It's awful waking up and finding that not only has the procedure not been done, but now you have another set of problems to deal with: I've been there too and it takes a long time to process it. Sending love x

Sorry, I've just read your post again and they have done an MRI already- which seems strange that they didn't know what they were facing. You mention endometriosis but what stage are you and were they endometriosis specialists? xxx

I don’t think they are endometriosis specialists but they definitely have my MRI result and I have stage4 endometriosis which has affected my pelvic anatomy. This was supposed to be my second surgery with them. The first consultant did the surgery successfully in 2023 but he has left the hospital and moved to another hospital and a new consultant came to do the procedure this time but couldn’t because he couldn’t understand the anatomy and I had lots of scarring according to him so he closed up after opening up. Very disappointing and disheartening.

Ask to be referred immediately to a BSGE centre. To be honest it's a good thing that he realised he didn't have the skills set as he could have done more harm than good. Look up your nearest centre and get put on the waiting list. Good luck x

I had my tubes removed yesterday for the exact same thing, but even though my last surgery for stage 4 was only in August, I have adhesions with my ovaries, uterus and bowel in a clump stuck together again with 6 cysts. They did however manage to remove the tubes but that's all, it was at an endo centre but not endo specialist surgeon. Emailing the ivf clinic tomorrow, I'll keep you posted if I find anything useful out 🤞
