MRI & recurring cysts

purplechocolatecat profile image

I am 6 weeks post surgery to remove a cyst from my right ovary.

This was confirmed to be endometrioma and that I have endometriosis.

I am still awaiting my follow up appointment but don’t anticipate this being any time soon, but following surgery I got PID and after some complications was found then have a simple cyst and a further bleed or cyst on the other ovary.

I am also experiencing problems with my bowel and the Dr has said there was some untreated endo left on blood vessels.

I don’t yet know the stage or how to find out the stage but wonder if an MRI would be beneficial to establish extent of endo.

Has anyone any experience getting a scan on the NHS or privately, and if privately the cost and how to find a specialist?

Any advice appreciated!

Hey, hope recovery is going well!. you can ask at your follow up appt as to what stage endo you have but as you said that could take a while. see if you could get the consultants secretary to get you the information quicker. I have booked a pelvic MRI in a few weeks with a company called vistahealth they have a few locations around the UK, i have paid £470 (includes contrast). i was getting nowhere with my GP or endo nurse so decided to get it done privately and quicker!! hope this helps xx
